About Sakti means magic in Malay. Magic, because music has always had a supernatural effect on us. And we, in turn try to reflect that in our music.

There are five of us Ashraf (vocals), Amirin Rasydan (guitar), Wan Abdul Rahim (bass), Farah Hanim (keyboard) and Ahmad Nazree (drums) and we share a passion for pop rock.

Out of this love and frequent jamming, Sakti was born in late 2001. In the beginning, it was Ashraf and Amirin, classmates at a college in KL who initiated the move to form a band. The were joined by Wan, their senior, who played guitar as a hobby. Afterwards, Ahmad Nazree (fondly known as Ajee) a drummer from the band, Asma & The Holograms, joined the group followed by the fifth member Farah Hanim, a graduate in International Business from Monash University.

It has been four years of us remaining below the radar and we think the time has come for them to make known their brand of music which is a mix of Flop Poppy / Sheila On 7 and Mogwai.

Our songs are expressions of love, frustration, joy and happiness, put to a very infectious and catchy melody. We hope to be able to relate to our audience and in so doing, entertain them.

This is the beginning of our journey
