SAE is no longer what it used to be. The focus now is on multimedia and not audio engineering. The equipment and facilities have degraded, not to mention the faculty. Ask any SAE graduate. Even former lecturers have "condemned" the place.
If your career path is audio engineering, there are better options available. |

What do you want actually? A career in audio engineering? Paper qualifications helps to get a foot in the door. But one's actual ability to perform the task is what gets a person hired.
I'm a little biased to say ICOM cos I studied there. They offer a Certificate in Audio Production.
But in all honesty, the best place to learn would be to offer yourself to work at a studio under a good senior engineer for several months. _________________ [Record Producer/Mixer/Recording Engineer]

i think you're making a good point here..
well to make it as a career, that absolute...but that is another level..
the point im going for study is for more understanding.. i tried to study by myself via tutorial, internet, forum, vidoes...but at the end..eventho i can make a good mixxing or good tone of recording..i dont have the understanding of what im be doing..
i got a lack of understanding in ENglish even most of the time i talk in english.. to ask around from friend to friend, or via forum.. i always got most to most the simplest answer which its not really good for me coz i am a lembap person..im slow with word, i need live tutorial infront of my eyes and i can raise my hand ASAP when i dont understand..
so i been thinking to go for any institute, as i believe there should be a qualified persons to be asking around when i got question and can use the facilities for study as im not so afford to bought alot of equipment..
maybe working under some senior wud help, but i believe some senior oso got limited time to teach or pay for an assistant even for a low price..
the point of all, i just want to get my understanding right, thats all matter for me at the moment..i dont want to into this audio engineering with blind folded.. _________________ Support Malaysia Local Band

ok jiro...
you go 'bertapa' at any otai studio for few month...
come back and show us the results.. haha..
We have jedi, huzai, deck... just choose..
hope the 'bertapa' package include food and drinks... haha...
imho, if you think you need a side-carrier besides just studio works..
better also to have the paper... e.g marketing, management, etc...
if not... just hold on and use that money to invest for your own on-job training... _________________ KreativWerks MediaSolutions|Soundcloud | YouTube | Facebook |

Ya... i kinda agree, equipment2 recording ni mmg not tat affordable... Ni esp..invest aje... and no return huhuhuhu....
I mmg da cari-carikan.... short2 course dedicated specially for Home recordists yg affordable.. bknye ke arah comercial tapi sekadar puaskan rasa in tahu & understand wat we are doing and at the end of the day.. we can pad on our shoulder... heheh "gud job"
I seru.. para2 pro yg creditable.... klau u dapat catch niche market yg i sebut tadi... I sanggup co-operate n setupkan short course style ala internet marketing yg sgt berpotensi besar. Ni mmg sesuai bagi yg schedule tight to create an addition passive $ yg require minimum maintainance once it fully swinging.. Yg technical part leave it to me + gang... with exchange your knowledge/skills to be digitize and the whole world will got to taste with an affordable price
Klu nak in details... I bley give some short presentation how tis model works yaa.. _________________ Thank you

It's been tried before by a big company. I was asked to draw up a short course but the plan did not take off as the demand was not there. Perhaps the right business model was not there at the time.
I don't know about the rest but in my opinion, AE is an "apprenticed craft". I've found that a large majority of degree holders don't yet have what it takes to be employed right away. They still need months, if not years of further hands-on training to get them to a level where they can function in an organization effectively. Very few are willing to wait that long because they are so eager to get into it. _________________ [Record Producer/Mixer/Recording Engineer]
