It's been tried before by a big company. I was asked to draw up a short course but the plan did not take off as the demand was not there. Perhaps the right business model was not there at the time.
I don't know about the rest but in my opinion, AE is an "apprenticed craft". I've found that a large majority of degree holders don't yet have what it takes to be employed right away. They still need months, if not years of further hands-on training to get them to a level where they can function in an organization effectively. Very few are willing to wait that long because they are so eager to get into it. |
Yes JD.. is very true on the "apprenticed craft" and this apprenticeship is more toward being a profession itself.
What we are looking at is more towards novices, armatures which interested in recording...
To give another metaphor... its like taking guitar courses... some might goaling to be a rockstar professionally. but i believe majority take up as leisure, hobby, passion toward music..
In the advancement of technology... home recording is even more possible n affordable in near future. Look at those Line 6 stuffs (UX series)... pretty amazing ya.. and it's a clear indicator that there's a need in the market
Havin say tat we can't compare a proper equip studio vs a home studio as there are targeting totally 2 different market segment. But home std offer foundation or stepping stone for those whom really pursuing AE as a career.
Now take a peep of some successful Internet Marketing model related to audio..

The biggest secret to recording is that there's NO secret at all; and that a good singer with a good performance carries a LOT (repeat) more weight to the final outcome than any technique or gear. _________________ [Record Producer/Mixer/Recording Engineer]
