I thought Latency problem exist only in analog recording?
but now when I recorded midi, the playback would be a little bit offtime lah. the thing keluar cepat sikit pulak dari apa yg sepatutnya. But still I can just drag it to the appropriate time line lah cuma leceh la everytime kena adjas.
any idea why is this happening? _________________ [ Kluk Kluk Adventure ] | [ Call the Paramedics ] | [ Dot ] | [ AJEEPEK ] |

Ajeep...its the sound card...besalah...kalau soundcard tak support ASIO2.0 memang problem latency ni exists...
if you have a SBLive5.1 Platinum...boleh gak tukat pakai KXDrivers...tapi kalau Soundcard lain aku tak tau le... Im running my PC on 512Mb but mine is running smoothly without any latency after i changed my drivers to the Kxdrivers...
Latency depends on your soundcard...not the memory...

thanks for the response guys.
I'm using SB LIVE apa kenama tah. but it supports ASIO. Latency during Analog recording is very minimal and not much of a problem.
and I swear I read somewhere on the net that MIDI recording will not be influenced by any latency problem.
Last night I did what 7thlovechild suggested. (Troubleshooting method..nice ) and yeah with one track.. load up edirol super quartet, IT's OK! i use all 4 channels of the Super Quartet and it's still ok. But after loading up Battery.. it started to give problem when recording. Analog recording is still fine though..
it could be due to insufficient memory. But my memory meter is like only 40% !! _________________ [ Kluk Kluk Adventure ] | [ Call the Paramedics ] | [ Dot ] | [ AJEEPEK ] |

I learn something new today.... thanks...
so latency depends on the soundcard... which have to see which driver you're using as well .... right??? but can i say that... no matter which sound card , if the driver is the right one , then the latency problem can be solved...?? _________________

Wrong.... latency has never been solved...in fact the new expensive cards still have some sort of latency...but is very very small.
With the old cards...if it does not support ASIO 2.0 then you are screwed, unless you have one of the cards supported by KxDrivers, which are third party drivers and work like a dream.
With the latest drivers, your latency maybe reduced, but again this is not guaranteed. you are better off getting a brand new card that supports ASIO 2.0...much better in the long run.

hmm, I increased the buffer a bit. seems to solve my crackling sound problem. memory usage is still acceptable.
I'm gonna try and install the Kx Driver tonite lah. rasanya mmg driver punya hal ni.
if anything goes wrong.. I'll call 1-800-RIDZI eh?
no internet lah kat rumah. _________________ [ Kluk Kluk Adventure ] | [ Call the Paramedics ] | [ Dot ] | [ AJEEPEK ] |
