There are some good advise and tips in that article. However it all comes down to what kind music you're doing and what you're looking for. Real drums are great to hear to but if you're doing electronc music then it wouldn't really be practical. Same thing if you're producing funk or jazz, it's kinda lame to use midi and try to emulate all the great live drummers.
