OK guys.. hope dgn aku buka thread baru nih kat sini kita bole terus bincang kat sini dgn planning kita utk kuar kan compilation disc dari i-bands.net dan opening for i-band record with hopes after this iband can produce more activity of productive.
first of all aku just nak refresh balik jer la..
macam idea asal yg di bentang kan.. kita make a good coverage for i-band user group.. combine a few alot band yg ada kat i-band no matter from mod group, user group, friends group into a disc for a better exposure.
in the same time kita bole create iband record, productive area of this iband community. i think it is a good idea, its time for iband to get evolve to 1 step ahead and dalam masa yg sama kita mencorak kan lagi industries tanah air dan juga scene local underground mahu pun indie scene.
this is not individual profit idea, this is all about to make it happen with sharing a capitol from our own pocket, not for iband 100%, but your own music work, band work to get more attention, exposure for a better listener as far social networking in myspace and facebook even xblog from xfm are not being very helpful lately due to massive concentration to indie band that already make name. SO let do it in old school way, mix tape, mix disc or what ever we called it..
in the same time, we want to prove and kill some mental block or typical mind set of people who too much dependable to major label or big company for a better records. In here we could submit the song , DIY style by sending the good record to respective engineer to mix it and mastering it to show that we not just being shadow of the future, but we in here do give birth to new modern engineer who dont have peluang to go any university or institute to just learn how to make things done. By sharing idea and knowledge, teaching each other to fix mistake and being honest to each other for a better result tomorrow.
mean while iband is not just about music, audio, guitar, instrument. It actually bigger than that, we got trader, graphic designer, journalist, guitar tech, sessionist, photographer, video director, we got plenty more of people that could help the scene to be happening like how our father or eldest brother did have in their era. all is DIY, non profit.
by saying non profit is not about FREE stuff. Of course the mixxing, mastering, printing, cover disc all need to be paid up. And the result CD need to be sell.. and keuntungan atau pulangan itu we can do other stuff, like launching gig, t-shirt, upgrade host and server, or maybe we could do a touring gig (if only we could make a big sales la hahaha) but what the heck, day dreaming is not worth to be dream if it just stay in your mind.
so i dont want to talk longer than this coz word can make people to be more confusing..
i want to stand here and calling you guys to attend a meeting, especially the mods, the key key player to discuss and make things happen. It is boring just to live spending 12 hours in i-band without making out something out of it.. we need to be more productive, with money is possible, with out money its not impossible.
I-BANDS COMPILATION AUDIO PROJECT
DO IT TOGETHER.
INITIAL IDEA:
To come up with a compilation album consisting of bands and artists in the i-bands.net community.
THE PURPOSE:
The project is to promote not only the bands, but the people who're involved in the production and the creation of the product (the album) including the recording engineers, mixing engineers, mastering engineer, graphic designers, photographers, video editors
OBJECTIVES:
1.To relay to the world that Indies are collaborative community and we bind together by our common love and passion for creating and producing music.
2.To show how we change the name DIY (do it yourself) to something new and productive in community, DIT (Do It Together)
3.To give the undergrounder, Indies, bedroom artist an upgrade level, to show them there is standard that hidden from the unknowns.
4.To give chance to young composer, producer, song writer to show their capability for new sound of Malaysia, maybe that could achieve international standard.
5.Bring the scene alive, for the better opportunity for younger band, new comer and some that never get chance to do it before.
6.Give band a real chance on how production was made, as to make own production will cost you more and never know how the end will be, so DIT is the best way to share everything, idea, cost, and end results.
7.To give exposure to ug'er/newcomers/indie artist about recording/production/etc stuff.

2. Selection By Committees or Public Voting
3. Call for Entry - Opened to Public.
4. Song should not be longer than 4 minute.
5. One song per band/artist
6. Song: New, unpublished song. No covers. No language barriers.
7. Audio submission (for audition): Downloadable link, email attachment, or streaming link.
8. This is open to any genre of music but only the best will be chosen.
9. All bands that are selected need to submit their song lyric for review. Lyrics should not contain vulgar words, offensive issues, racism, or other negative content that give a bad impressions to society.
10. This is a fully independent and collaborative production but at the same time we would like to make certain that the quality is of the best possible standard.
11. Band can make their own choice of recording method, but we suggesting DO NOT USE programming drum unless for pop, tech, electronica kind of band/genre. (This will be confirm soon either we could get a studio to provide a service for the recordings)
12. Recording is 100% handle by band or we can handle it for you as consult team, we will suggest and offer you to studio that reliable and dependable for a quality standard.
13. Mixing will be handle by few of our own I-bands user audio engineer, as part of showing what I-bands user got.
14. Mastering, as suggested we will assign to 1 respected engineer for a leveled standard output quality for all band.
15. Band will be informed if there is photo shoot session for band by our Design and Graphic team.
16. Band is highly inform and recommended to take own footage of video the making of their song for our video collection and will be update by Design and Graphic Team. |

duit royalties yg dapat from PPM..which goes to i-bands records, kita pool for future projects.
kalau secara kasarnya, bila aku explain mcm ni, most band aku timbul sifat tamak and nak register record label masing2. boleh gak. cuma PPM membership tak free. RM3000 setahun. so kalau lagu individu tu main kat radio selalu, berbaloi la. kalau setakat seminggu 2 kali, kat xfresh saja, royalties ada la berapa ketil jek.
so by pooling all the songs under one label.. it's worth the shot.
royalti mekanikal akan di explain sebentar lagi.

It's a great idea. I think the term D.I.Y (Do-It-Yourself) is overused and a little defeatist. I've always believed in D.I.T (Do-It-Together) instead.
We should first get Grymlock @ Ajeep in here first.
The next thing would be to lay out an agenda. Set out the points that need to be discussed before sitting down for a meeting. All parties can therefore be well-prepared with ideas beforehand.
One thing to consider is digital distribution. As much as we all love physical CDs, the fact is that physical units don't sell anymore, and that downloads/ring tones is the way forward.

Thanks jiro for starting the dedicated thread.
I agree with JD. We should think further on digital and online stuff.
Though printing and pressing physical CD is something we should still do, for me, i think most of that will go to promos.
I would also want the people behind this production, like the engineers, designers, to recieve as much highlight as possible. I was thinking that if possible, we document each individual journey with videos & photos. we can have "backstage" content to share with the public. more visual, more stories, will hopefully create better intimate connection with the viewer.
Maybe my plan for doing the video interview of indie studio owners can start of with this project.
Do you guys have gmail account?
have any of you tried using google wave?
I'm currently using google wave to collaborate with my team of web designers and programmers from accross the globe. It's really good.
perhaps we can try it out to discuss further. forum thread is a wee bit hard to follow. It's good to throw ideas and brainstorm but post mortem is a pain.
Anyway, we're at a good healthy start. I'm pretty excited to make this happen.

and lets shout ajeep name just to make him to get involve this time.. i am so hype about this..and down to earth to make it happen.. nad glad grymlock giving a good response, appreciate it 
ok..i dont know about google wave, if someone could lead me with the link i could do search and get my self in for a better discussion and point of agenda not to be missed.
i like the idea for digital way, i cant agree myself more, its a great approach, but i also like to do the old school way, print out item even it is for promo only.
the video also awesome, where we can record the footage for TMO (The Making Of) back stage , in studio, live viewing how we do it. like ajeep said;
create better intimate connection with the viewer.
in my mind also got this idea, if we deal to make a promo disc, we should include with the cover like a mini book, there is bit story of what is iband and how long it already been moving very transparently, what actually inside iband and alot more to be introduce to at least the young generation who couldnt get more for a right place to discuss and share.
i would do some note and record every what we discuss here in MS Word so people wont get lost much what we talk about and hope can be use in meeting if it can be happen.
i want to start with how many band should get involve? do we need quota how long per song should can be run? should we courage those band that involve make a new fresh idea or instead using the old record they have?
i want to keep on tracking this and that so we could get the final budget and calculate how much donation that we need for per respective band to do.
