Alesis' "new Fusion Workstations offer multiple forms of synthesis (virtual analog, sample playback, FM, and physical modeling) along with 8 tracks of 24-bit audio recording. Polyphony is dependent on the synthesis types used, but Alesis reports up to 180 voices with the sample playback engine. In addition to analog I/O, the Fusions also offer an aux analog stereo output, S/PDIF output (coax and optical), ADAT output, USB, 8 dedicated analog inputs for recording purposes, MIDI In/Out/Thru, as well as a SATA connector to add hard drive capacity as needed. CD-RW support is planned."



Hughes & Kettner's Alex Lifeson Signature Amp features tolex and groovy purple backlighting to illuminate the plexi front panel. The Rush guitarist kitted out the new line of amps according to the specs of the TriAmps he played on Rush's world tour.

Schecter's "new Exotic Bass features a Thru-Body Multi-Laminate neck and solid exotic wood top. Two versions will be available, the Exotic-FM, with a highly figured Flamed Maple top: and the Exotic ZW, constructed with Zebra Wood. Both are finished in a hand-rubbed oil finish."

Schecter Guitar Research's new C-1 Exotic for 2005 features an "arched Mahogany body and solid Flamed Maple top yield a very focused, full tone with plenty of clarity, according to the company. The 25.5" scale mahogany neck is set into the body utilizing Schecter's trademarked 'ultra access' contoured neck joint, allowing unobstructed upper fret playability. An Ebony fingerboard and 24 Jumbo frets round out the instrument's comfortably shaped neck."

Genelec's new 8130A Digital Monitoring System features a 192 kHz/24-bit digital audio interface, AES/EBU digital and analog audio inputs, supports single and dual-wire digital input mode, is compatible with Genelec's 7050A subwoofer, and up to eight 8130A's can be daisy-chained together in digital or analogue mode.

Roland Corporation and Universal Audio will develop, market and sell plug-in emulations of classic Roland processors for UA's UAD-1 DSP card. The first three Roland products to be released as UAD-1 plug-ins, the Dimension D Chorus, the CE-1 Chorus and the Roland RE-201 Space Echo, will be made available to customers over the course of 2005.
