(10 Jan 2011) - Do you have what it takes to open for a rock superstar? Calling all Kuala Lumpur rockers! Hard Rock International is giving local bands the chance to win a spot on the lineup at Hard Rock Calling 2011 in London’s Hyde Park, one of the world’s most anticipated music festivals! Past Hard Rock Calling headliners included Pearl Jam, Paul McCartney, The Who, The Police, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, The Killers, Peter Gabriel and more. In celebration of the brand’s 40th Anniversary, Hard Rock is launching its first global Hard Rock Battle of the Bands, giving the rock stars of tomorrow the opportunity of a lifetime. This year also marks Hard Rock Kuala Lumpur’s 20th year in the city and The Hard Rock Battle of the Bands will be an incredible event to present this year.

Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur is on the hunt for the area’s best talent to perform in Kuala Lumpur’s first round of the battle, where bands will compete live and be evaluated by a panel of local celebrity judges and area music professionals. Leading the distinguished panel will be head judge Jennifer Thompson, General Manager of the Malaysian Music Industry Association. Jennifer has 26 years experience of being actively involved in the music industry and is a respected figure in the industry. She is also constantly in the forefront of championing a healthy music industry.

The winner of Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur’s Battle of the Bands will be placed in one of four world regional categories, which will be narrowed down by a panel of acclaimed industry experts. Bands making it to the final phase will be posted on www.hardrock.com, where fans worldwide will vote on their favorites from each region.

All four regional winners will be flown to London, treated like rock stars and given a spot on the bill at Hard Rock Calling 2011, which will take place June 24 through June 26 in London’s Hyde Park. The band that receives the most fan votes will open for one of the festival’s iconic headliners on the Main Stage at Hard Rock Calling 2011, with the runners-up rockin’ out on the Second Stage.

To be considered, bands must play original music, must be at least 18 years of age and must have 2 to 5 members.

Just fill out the official entry form and return it with two original songs written and solely performed by your band in Audio CD or MP3 format to Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur by 6 Feb 2011. The bands chosen to participate will have to go through qualifying round(s) and followed with a final round, to be named Hard Rock Kuala Lumpur’s winner.
