I can get a special discount from the Penang distributor. Just send me a message for the special price, though I would suggest you grab it even if you see it for around RM200 as these are extremely well-made, wonderfully packaged, and stunningly good, versatile mics.

Those AKG 1000 ambient mics are excellent mics... Used to use em with my old band for miking up the cymbals for my drummer... crystal clear!!!

wow..quite expensive...the mics seems way out of my budget... Sad hmm how bout if i just use one superb condeser mic...put it behind my drums ...and start recording?..have you ever tried that?...someone told me that was how the drummer for 'keane' recorded he's drum parts.....any advice? Smile

Yeah.. it is challenging but certainly not impossible to get good sounding drums from minimal miking. Of course it very much depends on the room and the drummer itself. With only one/two mics it is easier if the room is small. Just set the two mics roughly on the same level where the drummer's ears are, set it to an ortf configuration and you'll pretty much capture what the drummers listening to. The only thing is get a really decent mic. You need one with a really good polar pattern so that all the off-axis sounds dont get mashed up.

The rest is all up to the drummer..
