The binaural effect can only be correctly perceived if the recording was made with a binaural mic pair array. Just putting on a pair of headphones is not the same thing.

oh so, does it mean the effect was there but can be neglected or we can totally ruled out from our consideration?

can u tell me more about the importance of interaural time difference(ITD) while mixing? can we have ITD with headphone?

The effect was never there in the first place if it wasn't recorded with a binaural mic array. Furthermore, binaural recording can only be correctly perceived via headphones and not through loudspeakers.

It's important because this is how human hearing operates in real life. Sounds coming from one side don't just reach the left ear, it is also detected by our right ear albeit a tiny fraction later. Because headphones cover the earlobes, it eliminates the interaction between the left and right sides. Sounds from the left go directly into the left ear without reaching the right; and vice versa.

What this means is that headphones do not present an accurate reproduction of the stereo soundstage. It exaggerates the stereo spread and makes it harder to pinpoint the exact location of a sound source. In practice, this makes your mixes not translate properly when played back over loudspeakers which is why most mix engineers do not mix using headphones.

sejak zaman 80s sampai skarang, banyak studio kat US ada pakai Sony MDR-V6. memang cun. sony ada buat lagi

I wouldn't agree with the cun description u got there Wink The MDR-V6 is pretty ancient by today's standards and even so, the MDR-7506 was the better choice for studio use.

This I agree 140%. Like I said earlier. Save some money and get a pair of KRK Rokits or Yamaha HS50M. They can be had for just above RM1K a pair.
