Sori, i am very new in this recording audio. Just nak tanya sifu2 yang dah lama..
Below is my first lagu yang saya buat, tolong komen (sgt fail la audio ni  :

Baru nak mencuba. Bile dengar balik mmg permainan agak teruk tapi saya belasah aje.. saya pakai cubase daw, m-audio as audio interface dan start recording.
Cuma ade few questions :
1) Saya dah pakai fx amplitube distortion, tapi bunyi macam tenggelam, saya ada baca article, penggunaan direct box akan improve the sound? Adakah betul signifikan kah penggunaan direct box ini untuk make the sound clearer? ATAU fx amplitube ini ada setting nyer untuk dapat sound clearer?
2) Adakah penggunaan audio interface yang lebih mahal akan menyebabkan quality audio kita bertambah cantik. Buat masa sekarang saya hanya pakai m-audio yang harga RM500++ je.. dapat la sound macam ni.. tapi tidak dinafikan permainan gitar saya hanya basic sahaja.
3) Adakah audio saya ini boleh ditambah mutu kualiti dengan pakai izotope ( sofware buang noize ) dengan membuang noise layer by layer dan digabungkan semula * ( tak sempat nak experiment lagi ) |

Untuk beginner… I rase you can improve guitar quality tu. High end gears doesn’t come cheap as it uses more expensive AD converters. But to me have a trained/skilled pair of ears is more important. It takes a lot of practise…and listening to references.

Nope, it won’t….. good input = good output. You still nid to make your tracks sound good in the mixing first. iZotope is mainly use as a mastering plugin.

-My focus memang nak kasi this guitar sounds clear. But to have skilled pair of ears, meaning i need to have a good headphone,
betul tak bro?
- For listening to references, i did read lots of references, but till now tak jumpa jalan lagi. So, what references you are mentioned?
Could i have a good website to refer to?

Suggestion for you:
Launch the Amplitude as a standalone and point it to your focusrite ASIO driver.
Your guitar is connected correctly to the Focusrite input. Just make sure you set it as “INST”. This is make sure the impedance match with your guitar/instruments.
Tweak your Amplitude tone and volume level to your taste and you can start to create a mono track in your Cubase and start recording. Pan this track hard Left.
Create another mono track and repeat the same recording but this round pan the track hard right.
You should have better tone this way.
Bro you are using Focusrite la.. not M-Audio :p and it’s called an Audio Interface, AI …not mixer hehe..
Don’t connect the Focusrite line output to your Laney amp. Prolly the amp have an AUX/CD IN, but it’s not a good idea to use a guitar amp as a monitor.
If you had the budget, get yourself a proper pair of studio monitors. (Full Range Flat Response, FRFR monitors)
Your setup shud be as close as per the setup diagram here

If budget x cukup, get your self a pair of good headphones. I recommend the Audio Technica series. Mixboy a.k.a JD got sell them… you get check him out.

Well you will only able to train your ears properly if you have a pair of FRFR monitors. Then listen to the CDs through it, and try to mix your tracks as close to these CDs. It's a frustating process :p and as you gain experience your ears will able to listen differently.
And of cox post your track for others to comments and seek for advice.. That will help a lot as well.

Well the rule is simple, if your source is mono, you shuld record it in mono. Example, vocals is mono, guitar, bass is mono..
At time, there are external FX device like stereo delay and you can record it in stereo.

you do it wrong..
cuba adaptasi kan apa yg brynwkh kata kan...
kalau tak mampu beli monitor speaker, monitor headphone pun ok... buang jauh jauh amp tuh utk jadi kan monitoring... walau pun boleh guna..tapi tolong la jgn practik kan dia.. jgn monitor pakai amp tuh, tak mampu monitor speaker, beli monitor headphone, tak mampu gak beli je sonic gear atau altec lansing dulu...aku dulu start dgn altec lansing utk 5 tahun..
*tapi kalau ada sen nak beli monitor speaker, angkat terus Yamaha HS50m atau KRK rokit5...utk headphone ATH30m.. aku bukan pro 2 product nih tapi this is a good basic starting equipment to train your brain and ear.
try record guitar guna cara brynwkh, standalone...tapi ini juga depends pada kekuatan laptop...dan juga ASIO punya latency...
anyway selain amplitube...kau bole cuba vst lain macam, GTR, Guitar Rig, Pod Farm, Gear Box, Pouline, dll... google google google... tapi kalau aku ...alang alang dah amp kat situ...micing je amp tuh
tak yah sibuk sibuk nak beli barang mahal...guna benda ni sampai katam dulu...baru kau boleh faham konsep recording nih...barang mahal lagi sensitive dan ntah apa apa kalau kau tak bole nak faham lagi konsep yg basic...
macam brynwkh cakap benda yg mmg mono, record mono...macam mana nak tau? guitar vocal bass usually dia mmg mono, tgk cable guitar pun mono...benda yg ada 1 output ke 1 input mmg mono....stereo plak macam keyboard contoh nye...ada string combo...output dia L/R (1/2) ada 2...kalau boleh la record stereo.....dia boleh juga buat dual mono, dual mono bukan stereo, dia split 2 mono track utk dapat kan stereo effect. aku rasa perihal mono stereo ni dah bincang dulu...cuba minta king korek...korek kan!!

Thanks to all sifu.. bnyk tips ni.. Kena study satu2 ni..mmg ada plan nak beli barang2 tu sume.. After pengesahan dari sifu2, then ill proceed to buy.
Questioning like this, my understanding is a lot faster.. if not, i'm not realized mixer is not an audio interface but is similar to soundcard ...
Take some time, ill come back to you all, show how the previous song will sound with the tips given..
Btw, i just bought, cable gitar planet waves RM99, it sounds good when it recorded to my DAW compared to my kabel gitar lama tu yang murah sikit.. |
