From my upcoming home-made CD 'While My Guitar Gently Beeps' (all proceeds to charity):

http://www.i-bands.net/audiovault/play.php?band_id=1024&song_id=3265&mode=song_hifi

Most of the beeps and bleeps were created by feeding a guitar into Korg's ER-1 drum synth.

Hey Pali bro, you're right... it involved a lot of work... many solitary late nights and loads of experimentation. The loop on the opener is from a traditional Irish song called 'Wee Weaver'.

And Mr G, I'll make a special audiophile copy for you. The music wouldn't have happened without i-bands!

BTW, I've decided to just scribble the title on the CD with a silver marker pen and print a simple cover to give it the personal touch. Well you know what they say... necessity is the mother of invention... blah, blah, blah!

Very Happy

no la izuan, it's actually an irish song.

synthdude, the quality of your work is something to be inspired. won't you give some technical advice in the article section especially involving the recording setup, mixing and all? it will sure help us in producing quality work in the future.

But really, you guys are doing a pretty good job with your stuff, considering your gear limitations. Keep it up!

As for tips, all I can say is listen to all the great recordings ever done and just trust your ears. And it's important to bear in mind that the thing that differentiates us from machines is our imperfection.

'Nuff psychobabble...

Anyway, my long-term plan is to help Mr G set up an i-bands studio -- and maybe even a gigging venue -- so that we can help produce projects by all the great talent at i-bands, including you guys of course.

That's sort of gonna be part of my future contribution to humanity.

Hey Izuan, you're sort of right about the reverse effect, but the vocal loop was only reversed on the left channel towards the middle of the song as a counterpoint to the wide-stereo-panned straight sample. It sounds quite wild and freaky. I'm sure the original singers, Dolores Keane -- http://www.doloreskeane.com/listen.html -- and her hubby John Faulkner, won't be amused!

I also fed the voice sample through my synth's filters for that wavy effect and double-processed it in stereo... quite a bit of fooling around!

BTW, if you want a taste of massive sound manipulation and do have the time, please check out my synth album 'Home Of The Knave, Land Of The Flea' -- http://www.angelfire.com/electronic2/rs/ -- which I'm really proud of. It's not easy to get into, especially if you're a rock fan, but I had many moments of inspirational magic moulding the sounds from sweat, soul and sine waves.

Cheers. Smile
