They're also known for wholesale copying of other people's products. I have nothing against that as they often bring prices down to a realistic level.
But sometimes it gets them into big trouble, like with those BOSS clones for which they were sued by Roland. That's why the pedals, which originally looked like BOSS knockoffs (see picture below), appear different now.

Quote: | The XLR input (there's no phantom power here, unfortunately) is good as it means you can use a fully balanced cable (male/female XLR jacks) to connect your dynamic. |
correct me if i'm wrong, but are you saying that i can use a dynamic mic without a pre-amp and get the same result as a condenser mic? in that case, please recommend me a good dynamic mic...
actually, my budget for the audio card is around RM400 - RM800 only. i need something compact and portable (unlike the rackmounted unit) so i can work in the office or home... and i need something that can record both instruments and mic with great results.
the ESI product is cool but in the mean time, i don't need that much input coz i'm not gonna record more than 1 instrument at a time. btw, where can we get ESI products? _________________ > facebook

not you're talking... this shit's gonna save me a lot of money rather than paying RM600 for the mic and pre-amp... (rm400 for the mics + RM200 for the pre-amp).. so where can i get this Yoga thing?
actually, at first i was thinking of getting M-Audio MobilePre USB, it has that rugged and stylish design... but it supports only 16-bit recording, but i'm not sure... the spec says: "2 x 2 16-bit/48kHz analog I/O".. sorry to be a pain in the ass, could you please check this unit out for me?? hehe

While you can connect a dynamic mic into the XLR input, you definitely won't get condenser-like results. The advantage of the full XLR capability is, the signal will be crisper and cleaner (usually that also means less hum).
The other M-Audio unit does have phantom power so you can plug a condenser into it. But like you mentioned, it's only 16-bit...
The Yoga mics should be available in Jalan Pasar.
As for ESI products, I believe they're currently available at Low Yat Plaza.
On my PC, I'm now using their fabulous 24-bit/192kHz Juli@ soundcard (around RM700) which is perfect for my needs.

They use every trick in the book to ensure there's a large profit margin. That's why robber-barons like Bill Gates keep getting richer! |
