Well, I am not sure where to post this. Hope I am selecting the right place.
Umbrella Records (myself lah) would like to invite any band or even solo artist interested in participating in a compilation demo project I am working on to "send" me their demo/album.
The purpose of this compilation is to get the various indie labels/bands regardless of genre, race, language & location to be united.
I am trying to be flexible in terms of the word "send". It doesn't necessarily mean "send". You can pass to me by hand, by foot or by mouth. I would try to avoid courier because I HATE the courier service in Malaysia. I prefer to meet the artist in person if possible. I don't want any "Mili Vanilli" incident (someone pretends to be another artist). By the way, I am stationed in PJ.
Here are the condition:
1. No cover version
2. Copyright belongs to the artist
3. An agreement needs to be signed for the protection of my label against your future label (if they want to play dirty)
4. 99.99% it will not generate any profit. It's for promotional purpose for the bands and my label. If there's any profit, I hope I can share with the bands selected for the demo.
5. If you send me your stuff but not selected for this compilation. Don't worry, you may be in the 2nd compilation unless I close shop lah.
6. One song or more may be selected from each band.
7. Any genre, gender & language is fine.
8. Song(s) will be picked from the demo/album to be a part of the compilation.
9. The demo/album sent MUST be in CD format. No MP3/WMA please. You don't have to necessarily send me a demo/album with proper cover/sleve. I will accept CD-R with song title and band names written on a paper too.

If you're from another indie label and interested to contribute to this compilation, you are welcome too.

If you're in the midst of recording your demo, you can let me know about it. Of course, you'll miss the chance if your demo comes out later than my compilation demo. Again, if you miss the first one, you may appear in the second compilation demo. If you have one song ready, you can also pass it to me.
At this moment, I cannot announce any deadline for my project yet because it depends on the response of the artists. As soon as the songs are fully collected and the sleve/cover is designed. Everything will be ready.
My ambition is to gain some experience in releasing compilation demos and if financially permit, I will go for a proper compilation album one day with proper re-mastering etc.
This is a hint to all the bands: Make sure you obtain the raw files from whoever that performs mastering for your album/demo. |

Thanks, Grymlock. BTW, a member of a band told me abt problem with the music uploaded to i-bands. Can I get her to contact u directly if the problem is not her file itself lah...??
Huzai, sure boleh. tak ada cover tak apa. Just let me know the band's name and song title. No casing pun tak apa...but at least use a plastic (like the pasar malam one) or something to protect the CD lah. |

Sorry lah...album cover of most of the alternative bands or compilation got no photo one....mostly abstract art or messy drawings....so model is not required.
Hmm..you've just gimme a good idea. Why don't I get your photo...then ask someone to "menconteng" it...then it could be a cool album cover...hahaha...just kidding lah...no offence please |
