guys, this topic is just a topic on what you think your level of playing is. dont make it into some kind of pessimistic debate. this is just a good way of ppl in here to get to know what you think of yourself
my opinion of myself i think can play decently though. need to improve on my picking and string skipping. i am not good at fusion so now im just listening to stuff by Richie Kotzen and Greg Howe to learn how to play fusion
i dont spend much to practise like i used to so now im just practising my understanding of musicality and different genre.
playing wise im ok

aku lak...
speed tarak so mmg takleh shred. fretboard knowledge pun tak kuat sgt. maseh meraba raba membaca fret tu.
dan kerana takde speed, jgn harap la nak sweep picking ke apebende ke tapi sweeping the floor bleh la hehe. |

well my opinion of myself ..hmm
for people same age with me i think i am pretty top of my game
but overall..
i count myself as a shredder ..but a shredder who is a little far from average level ..
but i think i got alot of brushing up to do with my basic technique ..
pulls,vibratos and all ..yeah i can't read sheet music ..i suck too ..
and i cannot improvise jazz..sad thing..how the hell those jazz guitarist make their melody sound like that..
anybody any tips ?

i can play power chords and drop D chords well, tapi bile dah gile headbanging tu, tak betul lah jadinye cara aku main tu. heheh 
main chord biase pulak... boleh le... untuk chord yang biase digunakan je, mcm chord major, minor ngan 7. yang lain tu tak ingat sangat...
solo pulak boleh le tahan... tapi kalau gune trem ngan jari kanan hammer tali (tak ingat name skill) tak reti. aku belum ade chance lagi nak gune trem.
jenis muzik yang aku leh bawak luas range die. aku lebih suka main lagu metal, tak kisah metal jenis ape, tapi aku leh gak bawak lagu2 rock, blues, classical, country...
aku nak mintak maaf kalau aku membebel panjang sangat...

i'm pretty much satisfied with the way i'm playing right now..of course i would love to learn more bout jazz style playing so anyone out there who are proficient in jazz guitar playing? like to know more bout comping, chromatism stuff like that..
if in terms of shredding skills , apart from running up and down the scales , i dont have any he he.. legato , alternate pickin whatt??

hahah gapster rules!!
but anyway. i like the way my playing has progressed since i got here. i'm faster than before, but that's on the scale of a blues rock player, u guys here seem to all be shredders/metal players.
but yeah, that's all. i think i have my vibrato/bending technique pretty fair, that's the cornerstone of my soloing technique anyway. little finger still abit weak, and hands a bit small, so no crazy legato runs for me (aka dime in cemetary gates, my band wants to play that, i have to modify the solo abit at the end part cos my hands too smal. malu aje) |

now its either you start writing many many songs ..or progress to blues/jazz heck..both

bagi aku.... tone #1, skill #2. yg penting permainan kita leh bagi org enjoy/layan.... solo simple tapi melekat lebih bagus dari solo 365km/j yg hanya boleh kasi org kagum tapi takleh layan(not saying that fast guitar solo is bad). lagi bagus kalo riff or solo tu bunyi cam senang tapi sebenarnya susah nak dimainkan.... contoh.... part lagu2 pantera... cemetary gates n this love..... mmg menyentuh jiwa la.....
p/s : jgn marah kalo tak setuju..... cuma pendapat aku je . my play quite alrite tapi of course le byk lagi nak kena belajar. cuma kena rajin le.... aku ni pemalas

aku sgt setuju dgn Arr_U_C.. as for my playing pulak.. aku tgh mendidik diri aku utk bermain dgn lebih tenang, meaningful melody and expressive. Kelemahan aku skrg ialah lack of idea dan i got poor expressional arrangement. Kadang bila feel dtg, tiba2 aku terpetik melody yg tak masuk dlm cerita.
Teknikal pulak.. aku still lemah dlm tempo beat terutamanya bila apply descending alternate picking pada tempo yg laju. Aku still mencari jenis pick, string dan sound signature aku sendiri. Aku rasa, style aku dah ada nampak sikit2.
kalau nak cerita semua tak habis..
