Yes, it has a nice keybed with semi-weighted action. Interesting array of MIDI functions too.
But it only has 25 keys and at almost a grand (could be more in some shops), is a bit too expensive for a keyboard without preloaded sounds!
I like my Korg Prophecy (about the same size and price and with fabulous sounds of its own plus aftertouch/velocity-sensitivity) better for controlling virtual synths.
Also, Alesis' MICRON ( http://www.alesis.com/products/micron/ ), a similar-sized keyboard I reviewed last year, costs just a bit more and can be used for live gigs as it comes loaded with 1,000 presets (including terrific Moog and organ flavours) and is eight-note polyphonic!
Mr. G, I'm actually in KL now. You can PM me if you're free to meet up for teh tarik in Damansara Utama this evening. I'll have the NeON with me so you can try it out if you want.
Cheers. |

The Yamaha CS-80 (1976-79) weighed over 200lbs and was the first great synth to come out of Japan.
It was one of the first eight-note (two oscillators per voice) polyphonic synths, and offered such advanced features as patch memory and aftertouch.
Needless to say, only rich musicians could afford it.
The CS-80 was heavily used by Vangelis for the soundtracks of 'Bladerunner', 'Mutiny On The Bounty' and 'Chariots Of Fire'.
Still working second-hand CS-80s can fetch up to US$2,000 these days.
Arturia's CS-80v is an amazingly faithful virtual rendition of this fabled beast.
