ridzi, u read my mind...
tu lah pasal, lantak lah kalau rekord kompeni nak tak nak angkut gua. yeah, rezeki jgn ditolak...but i think serious musicians SHOULD dwell into the art of recording. it is FUN! u create something outta nothing and enjoy complete artistic control. dont get me wrong, im not saying that everyone has to has expensive equipment in the bedroom or whatever, just ur guitar and a decent soundcard ( these cost less than 1K these days, low latency with good ADDA converters) and your PASSION to make music you like, not making music you dont like for free studio time and money.
but we have to realistic la, like what ridzi said;
Speaking for myself, i dont really care if i get signed to a label , if i do, sure, i would be laughing all the way to the bank, but it will never stop me from making the music that I love. I would take the money...satisfy the contract, then use that money i get to buy more equipment, and to fund my own real music.
Hehe, ud be surprised at the stuff i had to make for my multimedia projects. But hey, its for the awmighty ringgit to buy more gear, so be it.

I agree Afiq. Still, a lot of signed bands didn't get well promoted enough, unless you are a clone of what's the current hot artist/bands.
If I do get signed up (that's when hell freezes over la!), I dont think the record company is gonna promote me anywhere as aggressively as Siti Nurhaliza(because I got a dick) or Boboy(also because I got a dick!  ). So in the end I can imagine I will end up as a second/third class citizen in the record company...losing my musical freedom( I dont think they will allow me to put a song like 'Katie' in the same album with a song like 'Shyboy(Billy Sheehan)')...and still not getting the promotion that we expect out of them.
So...once I release my CD...hopefully in a coupla months time...I'm gonna go out on my own...anybody wanna hop on the bandwagon, let's go together!!! Maybe we don't have the billboards/TV/radio backup...but I hope there is some way we can make a racket about it to sell our CD's. |

The Malaysian mainstream is growing,old established bands r workin on what they lacked last time & r dishing out some wicked tracks take pop shuvit 4 example..they r currently in US now,i mean i dont worship da west but thats a big feat,wat about reshmonu his flow his style certainly has changed for better,ahli fiqir although they r from s'pore they have brought bahasa melayu 2 a new level,now its known across asia,love me butch signed a deal in canada ofcourse theres still room for improvement but isnt that the reason were r here,learning from da elders & making it better,trust me on this,malaysian music scene is buzzin not only in tanah nusantara[s'pore,indonesia & brunei] but its also buzzin in asia so its just a matter of time & good planing,who knows someday we could mengharumkan industri music tanah air,my opinions though everyones free to agree or disagree-Jay'

well..nothin much to comment actually....just dat i think dat da malaysian underground scene is really blooming well..but it just keep me wonderin even more...y do these undergorund bands do not want to move a notch higher to convert to mainstream....maybe its just da hype dat comes wid mainstream is too high...i'm still trying to figure it out really...but one thing for sure...our local underground scene definately rocks..look at banbds like Stonebay for example..they are just superb...but i guess they dun think they are ready yet for da mainstream..if u ask me..there are loads of underground bands of bands out there who kicks a$s..then again...it would a matter of choice..wouldn't it...

MUSICIANS AND ORGANISERS FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE PEOPLE!
all they care about their own band and politics! they forgot about the people who supported them. all they want to do is make friends with other big bands and lepak with them, while leaving the people who support u stray behind!
i susgest bands should lepak with their friends more during the gig than sit one corner with ur own bandmates or other bands!
thats why you don't get the support! PLUS, everyone listens to others whom they think is well established by kissing their ass, it can bring them somewhere.
Even it is includes forming an alliances and going against the person who supported your band most!
people like this should suck more of their mother's breastmilk in their childhood life. Because they have all forgotten about who was there even before you were in a band performing gigs! too blinded by rock the world! wake up la! ROCK THE WORLD is nothing! the real thing is when people actually love your music and buy your CD!
its not ur stupid music! its the people who supported u from where you are now!

and they think they know everything. They even ruin my relationships! twice because of their stupid stupid ego!
To be honest! one the bands in the mainstream side, their music sucks big time.
