Hey Dude!!!

I've just got this new Studio Mic from Roland - DR-80C for less then RM 1K

I've did a comparison on this mic with Numan U87. and the respond of this mic comes quite close to the U87. with a few minor adjustment from the per-amp it actually sounds very close with U-87.

You can actually see the frequency response with the spectrum analizer, that'll tell the true pic of the DR-80C.

Have fun with DR-80C!!!

but i thought the SM58 is good for vocals during live shows only... am i right? for drums / amp / speaker miking, its better to use the SM57... and for vocal recording purpose, just get any good condenser mic (ie: Behringer C1)...

correct me if i'm wrong...

Hi Dude.. SM-58 is not only for Vocals it also sounds good for instruments. i've saw Joe satriani live gig using SM-58 for his guitar Cabinet micking.
It's how you use it, not how it should be use on what it says.....

Actually, refer to the MIC vendor, they will design and produce a MIC and certain MIC will best for certain MI.

For example: Stuido Projects MIC:

B1 :
Applications
• A do all general purpose recording Mic
• Great for close miking amplifiers with high sound pressure levels
• Great for production, broadcast, and voice over work
• Perfect for the professional and home project studio
• A quality vocal mic suitable for all vocal styles

C1:
Applications
• Designed for the professional and home project studio
• A do-all, general purpose recording Mic
• Great for close miking amplifiers with high sound pressure levels
• Production, broadcast, and voice-over work
• A quality vocal mic suitable for most vocal styles

B3:
Applications
• A superb vocal microphone with warm transparent character
• Great for overhead choirs, strings, pianos & percussion
• Great for production, broadcast, and voice over work
• Perfect for the professional and home project studio
• A quality vocal mic suitable for all vocal styles

In studio, they have few MIC to meet difference requirement (ppl). But if you like to buy MIC, you should study, discuss with your friend and test (if possible)......
