orait.. i've received my Vox V-847 wah last monday! agak buruk sikit (maklumlah barang 2nd hand), tapi works great! i opened the bottom plate and found out that the circuit board is a bit different from the pic izuan posted. check it out:
as you can see, my wah (bottom) is missing one of the component! and then the board takde cop "VOX"... so does this mean that my board is some sort of a fake one?
but anyway, bila aku balik rumah and test it, wow... best ooo! even kalau dlm mode bypass pon, bagi aku sound dia lagi best berbanding kalau tak letak vox wah ni... so tak payah la aku nak mod dia kasi true-bypass coz my tone doesn't suck, in fact i love it!
and the wah range? dulu aku pakai Crybaby 535-BB, ada 4 wah-range selector... salah satu range yg aku suka pada Crybaby tu is actually the same with this Vox wah range! hohoho... puas hati! but still, i'd like to listen to a modded vox wah and compare it to this stock one...

Zid .. aku tgk gambar tu. aku rasa ko punya version modern sebab komponen dlm yang gambar yang aku letak tu, kelihatan lebih vintage.
Pasal board takde cop vox tu, aku tak sure.. mungkin company Vox outsource board tu dari company yg buat board. Nak reduce Cost mungkin.. ada tulis China/Taiwan/Korea tak?
tapi lega juga sebab sound ko tu best.. rupa dia pun cooool!

sound 'best' tu ikut sedap telinga aku yg mendengar ni ha.. tak tau la org lain punya taste maybe tak cukup best kot, itu yg dok sibuk nak modify je tuh..
anyway, ari tu aku ada tanya balik seller, dia kata dia takde modify apa2 wah ni, cuma adjust dia punya pot je... and then dia ingat aku nih expert dlm bab2 modify wah pasal aku tau perbezaan circuit board vox wah ni dgn yg lain hahahah... hmm ko rasa apa benda yg dia adjust kat pot tu??
kalau setakat beza dari segi vintage / modern je aku tak kisah la.. maybe aku punya nih re-issue model kot? anyway, ade satu perintang tu takde pada board aku nih! hish bikin aku cemas nih... penting ke tak komponen tu haa?

Tak penting.. yang paling penting.. ada sound dan ko suka sound tu.. even there is only one single resistor je inside the box..
pasal adjust pots tu aku tak tau la apa yg boleh di adjust. tapi Adjust tak semestinya bermaksud MOD.

mana der masa nak buat sendiri...
Mid boost: Raise the value of the 1.5K resistor (located to the left of the 0.01uF capacitor). A 2.2K reistor here will give you a bit more mids, while smoothing out the transition from heel to toe position.

yes i've done this. Exactly mcm Ultraman buat, (tukar dari 1k5 ke 2k2). It took me 15 minute tu cabut and install the new resistor. menggigil jugak tangan sikit sebab first time buat ni + excited.
Kesannya, bila wah is down(sound tutup), the sound is now has lower frequency, so bunyi lebih rendah. Aku kekalkan resistor utk wah up(sound bukak), so dengan low wah yang lebih rendah dan high wah yang dikekalkan, range wah aku bertambah la..
p/s: tapi aku still tak puas hati.. aku nak buang bunyi serak tu..

alright! best ni, aku rasa wah aku kena tukar resistor nih pasal kalau aku rock pedal tu dari back to front, transition dari bass ke treble jadi mengejut, tak smooth! and the low range agak muted sikit, sikit je la tapi kena tukar la jugak... so wan, kang balik kl meh la tolong mod vox aku nih ye? hehehe
and then sabtu lepas aku record sound with / without wah pedal (bypass)... aku dapati tone treble telah disedut oleh wah pedal ni even in bypass mode (hence we call it 'tone-sucking')! dan kalau di adjust dgn eq pon, sound dia tak sama dgn tone asal... so aku rasa penting jugak la nak buat mod true-bypass nih! hehe
by the way, nih ada satu clip heavy metal tak ingat punya, aku solo dari mula sampai abis dgn Vox wah aku tu! heheh listen and bleed!!

Satu cara nak mod crybaby wah range, tanpa guna wiring ker solder dalam tu.
step1
Dekat bawah heel tu ader getah penahan kalo kita tekan wah ke belakang, potong getah separuh or tinggalkan suku ker, nak potong semua pun boleh (resiko ditanggung sendiri). So boleh dapat range utk low freq bertambah. Pedal Wah akan boleh nganga lagi besar.
tambahan.
Jangan sekali skali memandai potong 2 getah penahan utk depan dekat switch. Pasal kalo rendah sangat nanti jarum yang gerakan gear tu akan berlaga dengan casing bawah pedal tu.
step2
pas tu bukak cry baby, adjust gigi gear dalam 1 ker dua gigi ke depan masa kita tekan padle depan hingga abis. Macam kita tekan abis kedepan sampai abis sama degan kita gerak gear + 1 or 2 gigi tadi. so baru high range akan bertambah skit. jangan buat lebih lebih gigi la, karang tak sedap. hehehhe. Dan kene ingat berapa gigi gear kita gerak tu.
selepas buat kedua step ne, upper and lower wah range akan bertambah. Tapi pedal wah akan nganga lebih sikit la... (jangan sampai lalat masuk)... hehhehe

whaa cool tips.. mcm mengelat je cara dia hehehe... err by the way, kat mana nak cari getah stopper wah ni ha? aku punya vox hilang satu (depan), kat woh fatt ada jual ke? and then rubber feet ada jual tak?
about wah range tu aku tak kisah sgt, bagi aku dah ok, cuma aku nak transition from bass to treble tu aku nak smooth.. so nak kasi up dia punya mid-range mcm ko cakap tu... berapa wui charge ko utk mod tu? true-bypass + LED lak camne?
