You can read about it here http://www.toontrack.com |
Yeah I knew about DFH earlier and was very impressed with how great the samples sounded. Did you order from their website ? The selling price costs a bomb ..
Quote: | I love my Schecter because...its a hardtail 7 String...it has better pickups than the Ibanez's, the aesthetics are nicer (blue flametop archtop finish) and Its not an Ibanez hehehe... nice to look at..nice to hold...and rips when you play it. and it weighs a ton...so playing it is like having a good workout!!
It was an ex demo guitar...i think they priced something like £750.00 brand new...but i got it for £250.00 at my local music shop in Oxford. It was love at first powerchord (not the usual root-fifth chord) the full out powerchord (root-fifth-octave-fifth) for example |
Wow, 250 pounds is a steal indeed. Was that your first 7 string guitar ? How hard is it to adapt with the extra low-B string ?

Mmm .. niceee ... I can already imagine how hard you can mosh to the chugs of the chord. |

DFH
I bought DFH in a music store in London..It costed me £59.00. I know the selling price costs an arm and a leg, but it's worth it!!!
7 String
No the Schecter is not my first 7-stringer. I used to have an Ibanez RG7620, but I hated everything about it. Cheap finish, ultra thin neck, Floyd Rose, and shitty, muddy Blaze II pickups...I dunno why people rave so much about these shitty pickups from DiMarzio.
I had no problem changing from 6 to 7 string.. because i dont just ride on the low B string all the time...i only use the lowest strings when i feel fit. Sure the neck is a bit wider than a normal guitar...but you get used to it....Basically I play my 7 like its a six string...and i use the 7th to 'surprise'.....just when you think it couldn't get heavier....hehehe..
I might just get another 7 stringer before i come back to Malaysia... and I might load them with a pair of EMG707's

Satu je...bila main chord ni, palm-muting ko kena kemas...kalau tidak the fourth string will ring-out and it will sound like shit..
its that fourth string that gives that 'metallic' sound

on the subject of emg pickups, saw the picture of yr modified epiphone les paul. i thought you said you had an 81/85 setup..cos the neck h/buckers dont look like an emg..is that an old picture? _________________ "my small self...like a book amongst the many on a shelf.."

I took the 85 out because it was faulty... i replaced the original pickup back in coz it looks horrible without anything in it.
Thats a recent picture

out of interest, where do you house the batteries for the pickups if you were to install 2 emg humbuckers? cannot imagine what extra space, say a les paul or explorer, a guitar has.
what size batteries btw? |

You can power both pickups with a single battery (you need to rewire it). It fits just nicely in the back cavity of my Epi LP.
The battery size is the 9V 'square' battery- just like the ones you put in those Boss efx pedals.

Wow, has the price gone down ? I thought it retailed for almost USD200. So is it really as good as they say it is ?

Haha, is it really _that_ bad ? Fredrik Thordendal and John Petrucci were using this model when it first came out. But then again, they had guitar techs ..

So which other 7 string do u plan on getting ? I found out that Jackson and ESP have a few of their own, as do Washburn and Carvin. Come to think of it, almost every guitar brand has their own 7 string axe now .. |

Ahah...dont get confused...Petrucci NEVER had an Ibanez 7 string. All the Ibanez JPM models (1,2,4 and 4) use Air Norton Pickups. He only started using 7 strings when he moved to MusicMan (fucking expensive)
As for Fredrik yes he uses Blaze II pickups...but not the bog standard Blaze II. He got the pickups dipped in wax to shield them from feedback. then his guitar signal was further boosted with an FET Booster.
Ahh... those pickups are shit in my dictionary.
I might get my next 7 string custom made...maybe a lush Conklin 7 string.
