Daniel's singing was atrocious! Esp. during his moment of triumph when he took to the stage as the winner. The incongruity of that and his weak volume, off-pitch singing...and goodness knows what else, it was just too much! Two lines of his singing was enough for me to tune out, literally. Good luck to him. And the producers of his album.

I pity the Malaysian Idol organizer and especially the three judges there because despite of all those praise in the newspaper and such, deep down in their heart they admit that this year, Malaysian Idol sux!

God forbid there's a show of all the winners of the worldwide Idols franchise performing on the same stage, with Daniel as our representative.

... only if the organiser could furnish us with the breakdown of the SMS voting, than only we can tell who the real IDOL is. Tell us from how many handphones does Daniel's 1.2 million votes came from and the same for Nita's. That will be fair.

I managed to catch the result show last night (at a motel in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan), and i was disappointed with the result. Nita performance was miles ahead compared to Daniel. Heck, what was I talking, Trish and Atilia were better than Daniel last night.

That's mighty interesting. Just checked out the comments on the issue at Jeff Ooi's site. This one in particular stuck out:

Some MCA, Gerakan and DAP politicians must learn the lesson from Malaysian Idol...
When all the Chinese (kids) unite and do their bit, they can even beat a better polished Malay singer.
No doubt Nita is better...but the vote still goes to Daniel because the Malay fans were split between so many contestants during the spectulars. A lot of votes also went to "Orang Kampung" (not fully on his talent but more sympathetic to his cause.
The other Chinese finalise, Ejay, lack the appeal...
Therefore, halfway thru the competition, the Chinese fans are already solidly behind Daniel no matter how bad he performs..
But Nita doesn't have that advantage. The Malay fan base were split until the last 3, between Farrah and Nita...
Therefore, if ....maybe when our kids that voted for the Malaysian Idol grow up...all the Chinese group up as a single voice, we can even beat the best of Umnoputra!
If and only if....

Ok...I think I can predict which race will be the next idol in Malaysian Idol 3. Indian has won it, Chinese has won it, it should be the turn of a Malay soon.
Frankly speaking I think the vote can also be bought. |

Let me jsut say that when it comes to these kinda of shows, its more of a popularity contest rather than a showcase of talent (now politics and racism and so obviously been sprinkled into the mix). So i'd rather stare at a my ceiling a whole hour rather then watch that crap.
I dont even want to start with the INXS show...could you jsut imagine if Metallica had one of those? Say Hetfield decides to be together with Cliff Burton in the big gig in the sky, you can jsut believe Lars for one would say "LETS %#$#%@%$ DO ONE OF THOSE MO*#@!#@!%&#&&%#$@&#$@ SHOWS!!!" Oooh..the agony of having been a fan...
(i want to point out that New Sensation by INXS was one of the first few songs we played live back during my school concert days.) |
