I think im afraid more than anything la...aku tak faham directory structure OSX, aku tak paham how the OS works.....macam yang basic2 tu aku fahamla macam Appletalk, Networking...but bila masuk bab2 macam audio ni aku fail la..

sebagai contoh...katala aku install soundcard baru, do Macs actually use drivers the sameway PC do?? Mende2 camni la buat aku takut skit nak beli Mac. If something goes wrong with something, does it have something similar to the hardware profile in Windows?? Is intalling/Uninstalling programs similar???

Cam Macs dia ader driver cam pc gaks.. just diorang tak called it driver they called it "extension". sama gaks cam pc dia akan loads extension untuk startup any devices. so replacing extension should does work. cam mac dia pakai "profiles" and pc on windows diorang pakai "registry". in term of architetural design of the system lebih kurang similiar.. just the name is diffrent. Installing and unistalling software more like copying and deleting the files. masa install diorang memang ader installer. kalau nak delete just drag the software folders and trash it. they make the software to be pretty much straigh forwards.

Kalau cam pasang card. first have to take a look a the system profilers see wheater the card detacted or not. then istall the software and the extension skali. pretty straigh forward. but when system failure. ermm.. mula la nak mengadap mac tue sehari suntuk untuk troubleshoot. asik load muka masam jer kuar.

my last mac experience was somewhere in 1997/98. After that, I have no interest in mac anymore despite of the fancy look and all the hoohaa. I know a lot of people love em.. heard that it's more superior when working with designing, multimedia, music making.. But it's just not for me lah. I think everything that are good on MAC, can be as good on PC as well.

When buy MAC, must remember to upgrade to the spec you like as normaly it only come with min spec. Thing need to be added like: RMA , HDD and hopefully, you MAC don't jamp up and down, it will couse you a lot when you send back for repair not like PC , you still can mix and match to do the upgrade as well as repair.

MAC... no way man... need to send back to the service center + there will be a min fees you need to pay...

of couse , you have money than no problem lah.....

but if you like to try and error and use the latest software, plug in than Windows platform will give you more chooise....

mac ni kan... diorang pakai audio core or something like that... with mac's system you dont really need drivers... most of the normal products , you can actually plug and play.. me myself dont really know how the system works... but mac system is stable... but the problem comes when you try to update something.

for instance , if you check on the web , diorang ada chart untuk compatibility issue between software's version and the OS version... like software A is 4.5 , your mac must be a Mac OS 10.3.7

and say everything is working fine and you decided to upgrade your OS to 10.3.8 , most likely you cant use software A smoothly... stuff like that...

This is common issue for Mac user......... unless you want to limited to use few software

But as what I know from someone..... normally they will use 2 PC , 1 PC for surfing internet and test and error systm. another one PC is for MUSIC creation, recording. with this setup , at least you will facing less probelm when you do recording plus you are open to use any software / VST/ effect ( as you may need to take some time to test b4 install into your recording PC)

put it this way. if you have the budget, the awmighty dollar, go for mac, get the mac protection plan, extend your warranty. use original softwares, everything go legal with proper support from Apple and the audio SW companies ( ProTools, Cubase, Logic, etc...) and not forgetting abt the hardware audio card. Make sure the support from M-Audio or whatever is strong in developing and supporting Apple drivers for the particular hardware. This way, you will definitely save lotsa money when shit hits the fan. With Apple, everything is MONEY. Masuk service centre je, sudah kena bayar duits. Evil or Very Mad

PC, on the other hand, we have Low Yatt plaza...haha, semua boleh bincang.
