An update of my earlier 'review'...
Tried the PU with metalzone...haha..now the thing sings!! i can feel the sound more clear now, and with distortion there's more treble to it - a distinct character of the SH-10 perhaps?
I'm sure with more tweaking i could get the dream metal sound that i lust...getting there now...
thinking of getting an EQ pedal to enable more tweaking pretty soon...
So peeps, if you want a bit of 'colour' in your sound, more clarity, and eliminate the muddiness in sound, go for an aftermarket PU.

'aftermarket'...aku masa zaman giler bikin kete dulu suka pakai term ni...
basic upgrade...open pod air filter la, apa lagi! hehe...

RM50 service charge + new set of strings. Tapi inotation diorg buat xbagus la... aku dulu hantar tapi tali 7th aku sampai skrg xbetul2 lagi... pastu diorg buat inotation berdasarkan tuning yg ikut suka diorg je... last2 aku setting sendiri inotation gune tuner kat ZOOM aku... hahaha... selamat fixed bridge... kalau trem mati aku...

whoaa silbi! termiss pulak thread ni.. thanx for the info on SD pickup... actually aku nak angkat Duncan Hot Rails (newer re-vamped design) for my old strat (squier je), nak restore balik gitar yg dah mencecah usia 10 tahun ni... semua parts dah beli (pearloid pickguard, pot, knobs, switch cap, jack plate, strap button, screws, neck plate, tuning pegs) kecuali pickup dan nut je belum order lagi... sen dah kering!! so far dah abis rm300++ utk benda2 tu semua! giler babi... baru aku sedar aku ni giler babi...
anyway, satu masalah... tuning pegs (machine head) tu tak muat!! so kat mana tempat yg boleh drill peg hole yg sesuai?? tak mau la hantar kedai kayu ke, diaorang bukan tau measurement, depth, etc nak kena drill, kan?
aku dah lama tak gi wayang la.. susah ada baby ni.. heheh caya lah, hang ada movie sendiri!

gitar 10 tahun...lagi 10 tahun lagi boleh kira vintage tu...
aku nye ibanez celup takde model dah dekat 14 tahun dah...so tu yg aku upgrade PU je...parts lain still solid...cayolah...
why don't u try calling the guitar store hartamas in mentioned and ask them whether they could do the drilling etc...
tadi aku try gitar with PU SD tu kat amp studio kat ofis aku, damn nice metal tone i got tapi feedback dia macam terlebih pulak - tu aku tak tahu apasal...maybe i was too near to the amp kot...maybe ada setting tak betul kot...nanti kena check balik ni
baby? no worries, i understand how bz guys can be once there become dads...tapi takpe, ada masa tengok cite tu...boleh ler ko ingat zaman remaja ko jiwang2 from that movie...aku ni bukan selalu dapat masuk filem? tu yg promo tu kat kawan2 gitar kat sini...at least lui boleh nengok gitar dalam filem...hehe

zid, ko beli je drill set tu.. ada macam2 size.. lagi pun ko akan gunakan lepas ni utk dril casing pedal2 ko akan datang.

dah usya dah, ada macam2 jenis... RM50 utk drill saja, set mata drill RM22, the whole set with hardcase (mcm gitar plak!) plus additional tools RM100+... setakat ni aku pinjam biras aku punya je, save budget heheh...

bentley ada, doremi ada, ish bersepah la kat kedai2 gitar around kl ni... tapi depa jual stok lama punya, yg cover lilit pakai selotape hitam tu, aku nak yg design re-vamped baru punya tu, ada cover plastik keliling dia... harga RM340.

off topic -
d'zid - if you're still after 'cheaper' aftermarket PUs, opethrules is selling some at sudut iklaneka...check his thread out there...
and btw - he was the one who sold me the SD SH-10 Full Shred before - this thing costs rm380 in bentley now whilst he's selling it for rm250 only. A value-buy i guess.
Not sure how this fares to the SD hotrails, but i'm sure opethrules would have some insights on its difference.
Maybe you could read reviews over harmony central on those PUs to have some better views... |
