I agree with you suicide. Actually malu ler aku nak berborak dalam thread ni...sebab like I said before...'Moon' and 'Shyboy' was recorded in 1991-1992 pakai Atari based sequencing software, which was later synchronised to a broken cheap Tascam 4-track. Effects processing was done by Alesis Midiverb III (which is still residing in my guitar rack...lush reverbs and delays...and only 16-bit!). Recording was done the rock and roll way, which was to hit the tape as hard as you can without overly distorting to achieve that cool tape compression effect. And I had to bounce tracks on the cassette 4-track to get more tracks...and in those days there were no such things as POD...I programmed all 120 of the classic guitar sounds from yesteryears to today by pure sweat and sleepness nights...60 for live use and 60 duplicated for direct to desk use utilising the speaker simulators(in those days...only the rich and famous pros have speaker simulators....he he...)...
I stopped recording on my own since 1994...and since then all the recording I did were for sessions in studios where I just go in, play and say "thanks I love you" after being paid...not having time to delve into the technicalities of recording at all...
But it's 2004 now...I got some bitching tunes...and I havent had a haircut since 4 months ago...gotta learn all this direct to disk recording shit...lay it down..and get out there...and make little girls cry... Twisted Evil

Hmmm...if it's good enough for beginners, it'll probably be good enough for me too! I have always been lucky to get the best sounds with the cheapest equipment since as long as I can remember Smile Thanks suicide!

P.S.SBlive ada siap dgn MIDI interface sekali ka?

Yup...you proved the point about squeezing maximum performance from cheap gear! The overall sound was warm, ballsy...appeals to analog guys like me! To be frank, for guys like me...that would be good enough for me to start with....it still beats the hell out of using my analog cassette 4-track machine!
Oh yes suicide, cable joystick port to MIDI tu dia orang kasi sekali dgn SB Live ker, atau ko kena beli sendiri? Kalau kena beli sendiri kat mana yer?Sorry la aku tanya banyak...tapi aku dah tua...dah tak larat nak kerja kuat untuk all this technical shit ni! Dulu masa muda2 kuat la programming and tweaking siang malam...sekarang dah tak larat dah Smile

dude.. never ever get that V-amp by Behringer. I've bought it last yr and a week after that, it went on sale on ebay. Seriously that stuff is something that you dont wanna be with. Extremely noisy and fragile.. (made out of plastic).. i'm actually refering to the V-amp 2.. not the pro version which still sounded the same i guess..

Hmnnn...i beg to differ...

Last year when I was over in Malaysia ob holiday, me and my blood bro MetalSkeletor put the POD and the V-amp side by side.. Sure the V-amp's casing is made out of plastic...but so what?

Sound wise...think both are pretty much the same. As far as noise is concerned...I dont think the POD or the V-amp is noisy. Perhaps you are referring to the digital harshness...which plagues almost all digital modelling units in the region of 2000 - 2600Hz... easily removed with a parametric EQ...just set the target frequency with a narrow bandwidth...and attenuate the frequencies between 2000-2500hz (2kHz-2.5kHz).

Still, its a cost effective solution for us that havent got money to burn that perhaps you might have.

Being a long time POD user i was very skeptical at first at the V-Amp, but after playing around with it, I have decided that it sounds JUST AS GOOD as the POD. I must admit due to the cheap price, I have been converted to a believer in V-Amp. I will be getting the pro rack version of course, as it has more input/output options than the normal version. Plus it look a hell a lot cooler...but then again looks are only skin deep.

Deadzid, the V-Amp is good. hell the JCM800 emulation is the best i have ever heard. Dare I say...BETTER than the POD!!!

p/s attenuate=the opposite of amplify

As I said before, sound wise, I prefer it to Line 6's POD. Aku takde rasa V-Amp ni noisy, the built in noise gate works wonders for me, even on my cheapo Yamaha.

but the downside is, the chasis is plastic. tapi aku rasa selagi ko tak lanyak benda tu, buat baling anjing ke okay je kot.

Alex Beyrodt pakai V-Amp on tour apa, so aku rasa ko tak payah risau la.
