i use to be a big fan of Prince back during his early years, even have a copy of his movie "Purple Rain" which was loosely based on his own life. During then, he (Prince) played with the band (The Power Generation). Not sure if that was his first band, but i have to say his best tunes were written during the years he was the The Power Generation, including Purple Rain, When Doves Cry, Little Red COrvette, Paisley Park, Rasberry Berrett..jsut mentioning these songs is brigning back memories. So i would guess the girl u saw playing is a member of the The Power Generation, since the guitarist was a girl with spiky multi-colored hair. I remebered that Prince hooked up with them again a few years back and they were now called 'The New Power Generation' ...not sure if theyre the same ppl though.
I did track Princes carreer during the early 80s, when he auditioned for Batman/Joker , his narcisistic impulses going crazy and depressed when he wasnt recognised in public but i got tired after a while, which in hte 90s he released Diamonds And Pearls...which i unfortuantely havent listedn to . Or any of his other stuff after that. I think the album after that was Emancipation when he announced that his name is that squiggly thing. Saiko sial.
Hope that answered ur question. |

or was it lenny kravitz who wears his mother's clothes.. aiyah very hard to keep track nowadays.
well, the last time i listened to prince is when i was 15 years old and i have forgotten most of his tune already.
but as far as i could remember, i never understood his lyrics at all.
my friend introduced prince to me, because he was like" check it out! porno music" _________________ "Thus let my enemy's blood be spilled

masa tahun 1986, prince dah advance giler. i still ingat lagi movie dia "purple rain". Citer ni masa tu tgk pakai VHS. heroine dia masa tu kalau tak silap aku, Sheila E. Sheila E ni jugak main percussion dlm band prince 7 the evolution. check out videoclip 1999. Cuba check out design gitar dia, canggih. he's a weird guy. bagi aku dia lagi advance pada masa 86 dr lenny skrang. Purple Rain was released around 1983-1984. Those days, they're known as Prince & The Revolution. It's definitely Revolution - not Power Generation. Power Generation came in the 90s I think.
I admire this guy - I used to consider him as Jimi Hendrix of the 80s.
I'm not sure of the female guitarist. The only female who sometimes played with him that I know was Sheila E - but I only remember her as a drummer.
When Doves Cry & Let's Go Crazy was driving me crazy in the 80s. |

aah..jsut checked, it was the Revolution..lol, that'd teach me not to check my facts first before posting.
same here mr siang, i guess i first listened to him cos from a friend who, the same as how huntress descibed it as, 'porno music', before i actually listened to him properly and found there was actually more substance to his music rather. He's a true classic super star.
Doves cry was ok and all...but it was Rasberry Barret and Little Red Corvette that did it for me |

Jeff, yeah I like his music around the era when he sang 1999, When Doves Cry, Raspberry Barret, Little Red Corvette, etc too. I'm not very sure of this stuff from the 90s onwards. His last album got a pretty good review in a local newspaper - I have never listened to it though. |

In the end...you need a really old saddo like me to shed some light about Prince's female musicians
Apollonia Kotero was the heroine in the movie, and performed a duet with Prince on 'Take Me With U' on the Purple Rain soundtrack. More details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollonia_Kotero
Wendy Melvoin was the guitarist during the Purple Rain soundtrack.
More details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendy_Melvoin
Sheila E was on drums during the later part of Prince's career:

I have the highest respect for Prince as a musician...the thing about being extremely talented is most of the time it involves that person being a bit of an eccentric

I still remember in the 80s, there are Prince, Princess, King and Queen on the pop charts. Kinda weird...I always hope for a band called The Royal Family to appear... |
