Sorry for acting draconian. I was the chairman, heh. Unfortunately, like Mr. Bond, I'm always out of the country on assignment, last year I was away in Brisbane for 6 months. This year will be in Papua New Guinea, Perth and Tokyo for a better part of the first half of the year. This is a crucial time as the protem committee needs to be physically in Malaysia to address the campaign and get the formal society started, drafting the constitution etc.
Also, this is a protem committee, give it a shot, if you don't feel comfortable, let the others know. However, I think you're the best man for the job.
You can pick members of your committee to assist you execute your duties. Let the committee know if you need any other resources, i.e., financial etc.
Another reason I picked you other than tech capability is your dedication to the community, you've got the i-bands framework set up. If you'd turn the i-bands portal into a community site (which for all intents and purposes it already is) under the auspices of the society, we could get some NGO funding to maintain, add more content and functionality and grow the site. I understand you're paying for maintainence etc out of your own pocket.
I will always be available physically or virtually for the community should any assistance be required.
Gotta go and get a teh tarik, shaken, not stirred.
