yes, sold my PODxt to some silly fellow who then sold his POD2.0 to another fellow.
meanwhile, I bought the BOSS ME-50 multi-effects, and I must say it has a damn nice range of overdrive/distorsion tones...it's not analog, though, which is a pity cos can still hear the digital-fakeness but to me it sounds much better than the PODxt's effects. However it does NOT have any amp modelling, which is ok for me cos fedup already with all that modelling crap, I just use the ME50 when I need to play with effects, otherwise i just use my MesaBoogie preamp with analog distorsion=overdrive pedals. |

Pickup selections while soloing is up to the individual itself, though. Just experiment, what kind of tone you'll like when you're soloing? And it all also depends on what kind of pickup you're using. Soloing with an X2N on the bridge would make you sound like Chuck Schuldiner (DEATH). Soloing on the neck with Evolution makes you sound like Steve Vai.
It all depends on how your ears hears the tone, and how your heart likes it. Like me, I'm using an EMG 85 on the bridge (I dislike following Kerry King of Slayer's style of putting the 85 on neck) so that I could play some bluesy overdrive. If I want to switch to metal, then I'll have to boost up more EQs. And when I do this, I'm able to make my pickup sound like an X2N so that I could mess around with Chuck Schuldiner's licks. I'm still finding money to get another pickup for my neck, already feeling bad for soloing on the bridge. Hope I could find myself an EMG 60 (Kirk Hammet's neck pickup). |
