I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all the beautiful people who have contributed by streaming/downloading our songs online from our various sites. As a result of your gracious acts, I'm happy to announce that at last, this is the latest Bode's Noise Box chart listing on mp3.com.au :
Instrumental Artist No.1
Rock No.12
Pop&Rock No.25
Bode's Piano Solo is currently no.3 and Katie is a new entry at no.25 in the Jazz Fusion charts. Katie is also rising at no.56 on Soundclick's Jazz Fusion charts.
As a result of these chart positions, I have received 2 offers from Europe and 1 offer from US for signup and distribution deals. But sadly due to my responsibilities here in Malaysia, I can't accept these offers in the mean time. I was hoping to receive offers locally, but too bad, Malaysians hate and scoff our music (as portrayed by our pathetic chart placements in i-bands charts). So far, the only offers we got locally were airplay on Cyberjaya FM and Astro Radio, but no deals yet...and I'm sure that local deals will not happen at all. A very big thanks to DJ Faxx and DJ Jessica for playing Moon on your show, which obviously helped to expose this pathetic band even further!
So again...to those who have supported us, a big thanks to all of you!!!
Love ya all!!! |

btw, the lady on the keys (seen in your old sheffield pics)..she aint in the band anymore? _________________ "my small self...like a book amongst the many on a shelf.."

She's Yus,...nope she's not playing in the band anymore...decided to devote full time to her family.
Her hubby (at that time boyfriend), Rizal was the dude who taped us!
Hmmm...I dunno whether mods get more storage for pics...will check out fotopages! |

Here's a new track that I dugged out from our archives, a track originally from a group called 'Two Worlds', which was a result of my collaboration with Azlan Abu Hassan. This track, titled 'Sacrifice' was composed by Azlan, and is different from any other tracks I've uploaded so far since this is a neo-classical orchestral piece with electric guitars.
I dont think Azlan Abu Hassan needs any introduction at all, but suffice for me to say that he is one of the music industry's heavyweights and an award winning composer/producer whose achievements are too long too list here.
We really hope that you enjoy the track.
Due to the fact that my space has been used up on i-bands, this track can be streamed/downloaded from these sites:

http://www.myspace.com/bodesnoisebox
http://www.mp3.com.au/Bode'sNoiseBox/
Thanks in advance! |

This is a review that I got on malscene.net today and followed by my reply:
Nosferatus wrote: | Dear Mr Bode...
Aku dah dgr ko punya music...
i am hoping for...like Kotzen/Howe or maybe Dream Theater ke, Tommy Bolin ke? punya thing, but i must say...i am quite kecewa!!
this type of music i consider obsolete...the Abu Hassan's trademark was quite...here and there!!
you can market this type of music to Malaysia, i dont see any obastacle there, because i was thinking, Azman Abu Hassan is quite well known here...
Your guitar playing was...messy!!! not Steve Vai enough, and not played in a decent tempo, i was referring to ShyBoy...dragging giler!!...sorry la, kalau ko marah kat aku, i used to be a music critic and i got a lot of tantrums and kemarahan membara pendengar yang tak suka aku...but f**k them!! i own my own computer keyboard tanpa meminta sesen pun duit dia orang, pegi mampusss!!
anyway, i am quite dissapointed to hear your music...
Cuba lagi di lain kali...(he he!! macam judge realiti show plak aku!!) |
Thanks nosferatus for the review! I prefer reviewers to be frank with their opinion and I really appreciate that a lot!
I'm sorry to dissappoint you about not sounding like Kotzen/Howe/Vai, but while I was influenced by them, I dont intend to sound like them and instead I'm trying to go out with my own style...so even though my style is bad, at least I can call it my own because I think everyone is tired of hearing Kotzen/Howe/Vai/Malmsteen/Dream Theater clones. The problem about Malaysian musicians is that they try too hard to sound like somebody else, while western musicians try to sound as original as possible. Of course, nobody can claim to be 100% original, because the product is always a result of whoever musicians who have influenced us!
Our type of music is out of fashion and frankly we dont give a flying f**k about that, but I prefer to play what comes from my heart rather than try to play whatever style is popular at the moment in order just to stupidly follow the trend.
Can you educate me on how I can improve my guitar playing further? When you say 'messy', what do really mean? Can you talk like a musician instead? Is it to do with muting techniques/legato phrasing/alternate picking/string skipping/vibrato/modes usage/arpeggios etc. etc. Please be specific because I really want to improve myself. I need your wisdom!
Another problem is, can you use intelligent terms when criticizing and avoid stupid non-musical terms such as 'decent tempo'. What the f**k do you mean a decent tempo for 'Shyboy'? Can you specify the range of bpm's when talking about tempo rather than just fart out stupid non-musical terms like that? I repeat , WE WERE NOT TRYING TO COPY THAT SONG NOTE FOR NOTE. We were just playing our interpretation...so we have our fucking freedom to play the song in any tempo that we want. Do you know currently there are 4 known versions of 'Shyboy' recorded (not including our version)? The original was played by Talas(Billy Sheehan's original band), then the version that got popular was the version played by David Lee Roth Band featuring Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan. That was followed by another version (live) by Mr. Big. George Lynch has his own version as well and last is our own version. All these versions were played at different tempos anyway! I am sorry to tell you that I have emailed an mp3 of our version to Billy Sheehan himself to seek his permission to post his song on the net, and he replied to give his permission and also complimented our version as 'cool'. Billy Sheehan, the person who wrote the song 'Shyboy', did not complain about the tempo or any fucking thing at all. But of course, I'm sure you are even a better musician than Billy Sheehan.
You say that our music may only be accepted in Malaysia but not overseas, but the funny thing is that it is actually the opposite : our music is NOT accepted in Malaysia but better accepted overseas. That is why I'm working so hard to promote our music locally. Overseas, on mp3.com.au, we were the No.1 Instrumental Artist for two weeks (currently we are still at no.2), and in Funender.com, 5 of our songs have all reached No.1 in different categories. You can visit the websites if you want proof. A producer in Europe who has worked with Marty Friedman and Tony McAlpine has actually offered our band a deal, not to mention other offers from LA. At myspace.com we were at one time at no.45 out of 2500 bands from all over the world. I wish we are accepted like this in Malaysia, but sadly, that is not the case. If not for my responsibilities for my family in Malaysia, I would have left this country and taken up those offers.
Nosferatu, please dont think that I am angry at you like the other bands, the fact is I am not. The reality is I sympathise with you because your music reviews only prove to everybody here that your knowledge of music is very poor. Please dont do that, because if you were to shut the f**k up, people might think that you are more knowledgable and intelligent than you really are. Jangan buka pekung di dada ok?
Are you a musician yourself? Can all of us at malscene listen to your music for us to learn something from you? Please upload your work at i-bands.net or any international sites (if you are brave enough). We would be very happy to listen to your own music. What magazine are you writing for as a music critic?
I get a lot of criticisms about our music, and I dont get angry at all because these criticisms are all constructive, detailed, academic, lucid and are offered by accomplished musicians. I think the reason that some bands get angry is because they were reviewed by somebody who doesnt know SHIT about music.
Lastly, I would just like to say this :
ANY FUCKING ASSHOLE CAN BE A MUSIC CRITIC, BUT NOT EVERYONE CAN BE A MUSICIAN.
Sekian Timakacih. |

Actually mula2 dulu the reason aku malas masuk malscene sebab kat situ banyak otak2 pundek cam nih dok lepak kat situ sekali. Tapi aku sajer jer nak cuba, so my original impression was true. Anyway, the only reason I hangout there is to chat with fellow old i-bands/myspace mates pun! He he...anyway we're packing our bags and leaving malscene...situ penuh orang melayu yang benci kita orang...dan situ tak dak market la utk kami!
Tony of anonimix baru start a thread about us on indiehangout.com. Dia dok sibuk promote kita org without us knowing it! Bila aku register jer kat situ, we all got a very warm welcome from so many great musicians...I was so touched.
Even Ridzi pun ada mencuba nasib kat malscene, tapi response kepada his beautiful music was sooo poor juga. Aku rasa kalau Ridzi main lagu cam burit instead, sure dapat sambutan hangat punyer...he he he...

The thing is, I dont really give a flying f**k what these people say.
All I know is that I make music to please myself. Some people think musicians are musicians because we want to be big rockstars. (Well there is an element of truth in there) But for crying out loud - I have been playing music for 12 years now, and I'm sure people such as Doc have been playing for fucking eons...even though its been this long without international/local stardom, WE ARE STILL HERE!!!!!
Why? Because we love making music. Whether people like it or not, f**k em. Opinions are like arseholes, EVERYONE'S GOT ONE!!
As for this scurvy pigfucking skunk nosferatu, Well he can go f**k himself. I'm actually interested in hearing his music if he is a musician..and if he is not, well then, nuff said really. Thats why i couldn't really be asked with malscene. It's just full of narrowminded twats. By the way the forum is full of nonsense anyway.
Well there my two cents and a half's worth today....
Bode, keep flying the flag, dont let these un-educated pigs get you down.
