I use 2 overdrive pedals.. one for main overdrive use for backing chord and riff and switch on another one for adding a little gain and volume when solo. So i have 2 overdrive pedal switched on now. My problem is the tone has became saturated. How to deal with this?
As we know, guitarist like SRV, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and even Joe Satriani using TS9 pedal for boost job but they sounds cool la..
Any idea?

aku dah tau basic solution problem ni.. rupanya aku yg jahil hahhaa..tak tau guna booster..
bunyi yg macam air mendidih tu disebabkan masalah double clipping rupanya..pakai 2 pedal.. dua2 pedal tu gain bukak.. mmg bunyi dia mcm kena compress dan pecah2..
Riview balik ceritanya:
Kita nak guna 2 OD pedal mcm ni untuk booster:
guitar -> OD pedal A-> OD pedal B->amp
dimana OD pedal A berfungsi sebagai booster kepada OD Pedal B..
Kaedah:
lepas aku dok experimen hari tu, aku dapat simpulkan yang kita kena pastikan Drive kat OD A tu lebih kecil range dia dari OD B.(Tutup terus Gain biar bunyi dia seakan2 clean). Dan untuk boost signal, yg perlu kita naikkan ialah volume pada Pedal OD A dan gain tu turunkan. So signal yg dah kena boost bila kita naikkan volume dia tinggi2 tu akan masuk ke OD pedal B.. dan pedal B pun terima signal tu dan buat process clipping.. Itu aje.. Kalau nak lagi bagus untuk booster ni, tak payah guna Overdrive atau Distortion pedal. Guna je pedal EQ atau proper booster pedal dan letak booster ni sebelum pedal Overdrive/Distortion kita.
Macam man Kidal dia guna Boss EQ diletakkan sebelum DS-1.. BOSS EQ tu dia tak usik apa2 pun EQ setting cuma dia naikkan volume pedal tu jer.
Pengecualian:
Untuk boost tube amp atau sewaktu dgnnya boleh guna OD pedal mcm tubescreamer ke, BOSS SD-1 atau DOD250 dan pedal2 yg sewaktu dgnnya. Contohnya mcm Malmsteen punya setup, dia guna Marshall Super Lead 100watt(tubeamp) punya overdrive.. pastu dia boost lagi dgn pedal DOD250..dekat pedal DOD tu dia letak gain 90%, volume 100%.

Kalau nak belajar pasal gain boosting ni...aku recommend Guitar Rig 2...kat situ boleh belajar principles on using equipment, efx, amps etc. etc. through trial and error. Aku ambil masa yg lama juga nak nail sound yg aku suka, sebab there are almost an infinite no. of options and possible combinations!
I'm into Strat type tones now...(ala mid 80's Gary Moore)...but tailored to my liking. I tend to use the DS-1 simulation module to use as a signal level booster rather than a dist pedal, with the actual distortion coming from the pre-amp of choice(my fav. the SansAmp simulator), going into a Fender Bassman/Marshall Plexi into 4x12 80's cabs. I'm using my old Ibanez Roadstar...3 single coils...standard Strat style tremolo, maple fingerboard with a small radius with tiny frets. Not a comfy guitar to play, esp for fast stuff and bends, but at the moment, I seem to prefer this guitar now(my first guitar bought in 1984) to help to heal my hands. And since I'm back to square one when it comes to playing the guitar, it feels more sentimental to start back on my very first guitar

wah excited jugak aku dengar.. ada masalah latency tak bro guna guitar rig tu? ke ko dah upgrade ke proper soundcard? Anyway, aku happy gila dgr ko dah start main guitar balik! yahoo!
Ibanez roadstar 3 single coil tu dah tergolong guitar vintage tu! Ya betul.. biar susah2 sikit masa practice baru la dapaty reward dia lebih..

yeah...bode is back playing! hope u could get back to shredding faster...
tapi jgn pulun sgt...healing process is never a short cut thing.
btw - i have guitar rig 2 bought at LY plaza...tapi macam demo version je...and despite using a good recording soundcard, the distortion sounds like nyamuk..smthing wrong with my pc definitely... |

Setup aku tak power...just cukup makan...and system aku pun dah banyak registry corruption sebab aku tak der masa nak maintain...hard disk pun almost full, tapi nasib baik bila Run Nuendo 2 dgn plug ins latency is unnoticable. Amplitube and Guitar Rig2(either running in Nuendo 2 or outside Nuendo 2) runs beautifully :
Aku pakai Creative Audigy
Pentium 4 2.4 Gigahertz
500 Mb RAM
PC ni dah season dah.
Coming to that Gary Moore's favourite strat...gitar Strat Sham yg aku pakai masa gig dulu tu, memang sound jenis macam that strat. Dari situ yg aku dah mula gila strat |

I still rarely get the chance to pick up the guitar. At this rate, I dont think I can heal my hand and play as lame as before, let alone be better  |

Bro...pakai la AB box macam Boss LS-2 line selector...this way you can switch between your rhythm sound and your boosted sound easily.
Basically your boosted sound is just your rhythm sound louder kan? I am guessing that the settings are perhaps the same, just the volumes are different. So if you use the line selector, you can seperate the two pedals and switch between the two sounds without touching the two distorted pedals.
Of course, the two pedals will be on all the time. all you have to do is stomp on the line selector. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.... plus you wont have that saturation problem you mentioned...

pakai line selector/AB switch bagus kalau situasinya, terpaksa switch on lebih dari satu pedal utk solo work.. contohnya bila nak solo, kena on booster+octave+delay.. so mmg kena pakai AB switch/line selector.. pijak sekali je hehhe..

Yes i agree with you. but you also mentioned that you haveing problems with saturaton...
but there is also another way - reducing the levels of both pedals... personally i would use the line selector.. Aku pernah tgk ade band pakai 2 line selector satu for distortion satu for the effects...so he can switch between the 4 settings.
