haha..."we are indies, we lose money".....very funny. Haha...
Yeah, that's why I didn't want the stickers. I don't like the authorities to set rules to make money out of us with the concept of "buying stamps to sell our product".
I was tempted to get them but after thinking about it, I don't think any outlet bother to promote us indies in the first place. I don't even see anyone trying to promote OAG, The Times and Nice Stupid Playground at the shops. The less well known ones could be in a worse situation. The CDs are more likely to end up catching dust. At least if the CDs are with me, I am more willing to give them away for free to people who appreciate them.
FYI, Ben's Bitches' National Disservice has ended up catching dust in a shop of my hometown. I am quite pissed off and I am going to take back everything and sell them myself. I always get the comment from the shop owner "indie music cannot sell". |

question? peminat-peminat band indies biasanya darpada which age group? Kalau mainly students, kenapa tak jual CD kat entrance sekolah atau University?bila kena sound daripda pihak sekolah, cabut lari je lah! Tak payah letak kat kedai pun!
Pasar Malam macam mana? Mintak tolong makcik, pakcik yang jual makanan, tolong jual CD, lepas tu bagi komisyen. jangan simpan stok situ, suruh dia mintak order, lepas tu talipon, buat meeting point...transfer the goods with money.
mungkin ramai dah cuba buat macam ni, tapi hasilnya tidak bebaloi kut.
hmmm...macam mana nak buat ni...??? kena mintak pendapat semua i-bands members beri IDEA! |

hehe kan. buat cam orang jual dvd pirate tu.
tapi susah ah pasal orang ramai bukan tau sangat pun band indies. bagi free pun diorang tak excitedly terima. cam..ohh yea.. ok.. then letak cd tu tepi. silap2..dia tinggalkan jek kat situ.

Ben's Bitches pernah letak CDs kat kedai CD pirate. Ben kata sales elok juga...mungkin lebih baik drpd setengah kedai muzik  Tapi kalau kena rampas, CDs kau pun hilang bersama-sama dengan CD pirate |

| hehe...aiya...banyak susah mau jual DIY Cds! maksudnya, kalau nak jual DIY Cds di kedai, apakah prosedur-prosedur yang patut di ambil untuk membuatnya LEGIT dari segi undang-undang Malaysia? |

| i see...in this case, the easiest way is to find a DISTRIBUTOR. Are they going to handle everthing? Including those silly stickers and etc... |

| yea, that would be a good idea, besides, kalau guna distributor, harga jual pun kena ikut the STANDARD price right? RM 20,00 i think. kalau macam tu, memang mahal, susah nak jual CD DIY! |

Looks like the title of the topic is different from what we discuss...hahaha
Anyway, back to the original topic. I think imported CDs are damn expensive these days. I don't blame the shop because it's not their fault. I have purchased a CD through a friend from England. It costs me RM80 per CD after the currency conversion.
I am not surprised to see Music Magic (the only shop in KL that I am aware of selling those rare imported CDs) selling imported CDs at the price of RM80+. Those in RM60+ are considered cheap already.
To lower down the cost, the only way is to manufacture the CDs locally. Unfortunately the major labels will still charge you RM30+ to RM40+ per CD.
I think the reasons people opt to download or copy CDs illegally in this country are:
1. Some CDs are not easy to find. Try searching for any albums by the record labels such as Barsuk, Sub-pop, Kill Rock Star, Flying Nun, 4AD, etc
2. Imported CDs are damn expensive |

btw, aku rasa AsiaLink ni bukan la official distributor utk album2 nih, coz kat album cover tu pun takde print mana2 company malaysia yg keluarkan (eg; VSP, NSR, etc).. dan takde sticker KDN (hmm musykil nih).. tapi at least ade jugak la print lyrics, gambar, etc.. maybe tak sama dgn original version but for RM19.90 i think it's worth it. cd inlay dia just simple 3-fold paper with quality printing...
aku beli 2 cd ari tu: In Flames "Come Clarity" dgn Trivium "Ascendancy".. tapi kedai auntie tu biasa la, bawak masuk cd metal banyak.. kalau band2 mcm "Kluk apa" tu tak sure la heheh.. gi la tgk mana tau kot ada ke? |
kedai tuh memang cetak rompak la........ dah tingok..
senang jugak nak pirate DIY.... banyak bands dah kena. tingoklah band dan label mana.

senang saje.. sometimes the scam pon datang dari kilang sendiri.. bagi kat diaorang untuk print 1000 copy, diaorang buat 3000.. 1000 bagi kat korang..
yang 2000 nie jual sendiri, dengan harga yang lebih tinggi daripada korang..
the best way is to announce kat promo ke album launch ke hape entah la..
dengan satu list..
for example,
Ep Ketiak Deadzid boleh didapati di kedai A, Kedai B, Kedai C....
tempat yang tidak disebutkan adalah cetakan rompak..
