playing cover song can prove the ability of a band to play other musician's songs... (almost) any band can write and play their own song, but not many can play other person's songs! For example, how can we judge Bode whether he's good enough to be labeled as a shredder? Well, just listen to his "Shyboy" cover, listen to his solos in that song!
Maybe its just another way of showing their influences in song writing. hey, not everybody listens to what you're listening, ok?! for example, i've to search for Atreyu's and Darkest Hour's songs to figure out A New Fall's musical influences... And i've to listen to Meshuggah to know what drives Ridzi to write such bastardized songs!
But i totally agree with the part where you said, it's a different case if you wanna cover it differently - just like my band's cover on Wings - Misteri Mimpi Syakilla and Kembara - Hati Emas! We totally raped those songs like hell! hahaha.. _________________ > facebook

For us, we upload covers because we're desperate to upload something, but haven't got the time to finish off our original tunes ( due to job/family/pets/bla bla bla)!
It's just in the name of fun really...nothing complex...but we hope that people concentrate more on listening to our own songs of course...the covers are just there as 'starters' or 'desserts'... |

well for me.. the less covers on i-bands is better. Not that I have anything against people doing covers. My bands and most of other local bands do covers as well.. but when playing live lah. It's fun...
but I just want to listen to more original stuffs coming out from our own locals. Kalau ada upload lagu sendiri..& some covers, takde hal lah. But kalau upload semua covers... aiseyyyy.. sakit skit la mana aku pasal lagipun the webspace here is quite limited see. dah la tu.. bikin tak best pulak hehe. _________________ [ Kluk Kluk Adventure ] | [ Call the Paramedics ] | [ Dot ] | [ AJEEPEK ] |

covers are fun..shows ur interest n influence when u play it...better live...its fine to hear a good cover version on i-bands by our local brudders of muzik ( but its actually an artiste choice..if he/she/it/they wanna put covers rather than original material , then who am i to say dun want to listen?ekeke....some good covers here i must say...
we do covers of many bands..many bands could be a-few-band fer cover-bands..we are not a cover-band...but love playing good covers...like the rain song from led zeppelin and regular john by queens of the stone age....
theres a acoustic band in sweden who has done a cover of the rogenz ' s the starfish song....that version fer sure , must sound better than the way we did it..
anyone has done sonic youth's diamond sea cover? HEHE...lemme know..i wanna hear... _________________ Den Good Fruit - http://www.i-bands.net/audiovault/bands/360
