I bought my GT-8 sometime in the last two weeks, and since then I've been madly tweaking with it in the search for my own 'tone'. But the thing is, I don't actually understand the concept of 'tone'.
From what I currently understand, possessing a tone of your own is something like having your own voice. For example, when you listen to music, and hear someone singing, you can instantly recognize and identify who he or she is through his voice. For example, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Frank Sinatra, etc. That would be their own 'tone', right? (Please correct me if I'm mistaken.)
So how would I go about finding this own tone of mine? I want my own voice too I'm not seeking a direct route for my GT-8, but I'd like to know how you went about in the search for your own tone; your experience.
This is a pretty bad way of describing it, but I'm hoping that when I find my tone it'll be thick, husky, with lots of sustain and a big body, with not too much gain, but the notes won't sound too individual and will still melt into each other. (Need to invest in a good neck pickup for that last one!)
P/S: I'm not a guitar/audio expert, and it'd be helpful if you could explain all that weird frequency/low-boost cut etc things too. |
