guess, i should'nt give my view on this issue.. i mean no harm.. but again, i dont think people are open enough to discuss thing.. they are open with other things.. negativity, but never the healthy side of an opinion..

wtf? Do you really expect everybody to agree with you? You stated your opinion and I stated mine. Where's the harm done?

that's not what i mean bro.. and of course i'm not hoping for u to agree with me, sure u did'nt.. but when u qouted my opinion pieces by pieces, i felt like ur blasting my opinion.. just that, and that moment only...

i've got no prob bro.. sorry for the misunderstanding.. we cool aite? Very Happy

i surely admire them for having the balls.. just not they way i can accept.. but everybody have their own taste, their own choices..

put ot this way, to me the indie/ug scene is totally an ufo to me.. so, please accept my view as an outsider view, a "budak x abes skolah lg, tp memandai2 nak bg pendapat"... Wink

Grayheadphone, first post to reply to this section should be good for you. You're right, probably 200 odd listeners listens to songs like Berbulu and Jolok.

Thanks everyone for your valuable comments. I certainly hope you guys listen to the new album Mamak Conspiracy. We've put through 2 yrs recording it. Sweating thru it to get it out. Not easy when you're in a DIY scene my friends.

check out our sites

OK, I'm out of this thread for the moment.

you're taking my point of out the context. "200 people" (which is not much) is a figure of speech, and that its always better to have more people appreciating your art regardless of what it may be. please bear in mind, im not asking you to change the message, the "dumbness" (or whatever you call it) or anything like that, no.

but the challenge, like i said, is being able to make 90% of the population appreciate songs like "berbulu" and "jolok" - something that i dont think ben's bitches is capable of doing - and any writing musician will say that its possible to make 90% of the population appreciate songs like "berbulu" and "jolok". those musicians who *dont* think so shouldnt be in this extremely-unforgiving industry in the first place. try accounting or something.

please do not patronise the rest of us (equally) hardworking musicians by saying things like "...not easy when you're in a DIY scene my friends..." because it's almost an insult trying to tell some of us getting fcked in the butt daily basis just to make a barely-minimal living in the industry, as if you're the only one with issues. dude, please. some of us DO "sweat" as well working on recordings, if you care to notice. some not even as lucky as you, having to spend longer than 2 years dealing with even non-music nonsense just to get a music record out.

answer the people this question, before they buy the album: why should i really buy ben's bitches "mamak conspiracy" album?

Two main points - Malaysian Oriented Lyrics & Present Cultural Comedy
Key music settings - Diverse musics and arrangement. Covers many genre.
Key drives - Record something people might have thought of doing so but never did bother to do; in the Malaysian context.

I guess you have to get the album to know what its all about. You see, you can't put us in comparison with any international artist. The album(not in singular songs manner) are designed not to have any correlation with international acts. Keep it real.

anyway, I love you grayheadphones. Maybe we'll spend sometime on Mamak to talk. I'll organize one session. I promise we dont end up fist fights.

i dont know if many malaysians can accept the humour in your 'cultural comedy' (as we've seen in harian metro), but then again, humour's a subjective thing anyway. but THEN again, why would you apply such an elitist of a concept of 'only a few people can appreciate our music'? why? the rest of the people are not good, or 'thinking' enough to be able to enjoy your music?

and i dont think many malaysians want lyrics like that representing their 'malaysian oriented' anything, if it was to be something to 'represent malaysia'. you'll probly get a lot of support from bored, rebelious-to-be-cool, upper-middle class kl teenage spoilt brats agreeing with those lyrics to 'represent malaysia' just for the hell of it, but thats about it.

nobody is putting (wants to put?) ben's bitches next to an international artist and compare. well, i dont, and didnt have the intention anyway. im curious to what makes you think people would want to do that in the first place?

i can too. but the issue is for the people who cant. which brings me to repeat my former question: why the elitist mentality of selective inclusion?
