hi guys,
i'm looking through ceriatone's website and this is more of a general tone question in regards to diff amp types...
i'm looking at these two amp types:
tweed deluxe
jtm 45
any big difference on these two? i'm looking for something that can do blues , 70s rock and also indie delay style (think radiohead / U2 / bloc party - although these are manipulated mostly by pedals)
no need too much gain for metal / chugga , i'll use some other amp/modeling for those type of tone
or is there any any particular amp on Ceriatone that i should be looking at other than these two?
Cheers!
(bro woof try to get Nik to participate here also la!)
hope we can get a thread on Nik's ceriatone amps going here and give some reviews on 'em - help create awareness on local products! _________________ my photoblog - http://sigemok.blogspot.com |

bro, IMO both amps can do what you what you want with extreme success. There is no night & day difference I guess, after all when marshall built the jtm45 was built after current production of Fender line at the time. Purist would almost certainly go for the tweed but I just like marshall better Sorrylah takleh kasi tone comparison as both for me is the 'mojo'. hehe
Cakap pasal mojo, what is the source of mojo in ceriatone amplifiers?
Pada aku it's the price, built quality yg setanding ngan most boutique manufacturers ( from customer reviews ) and of course, MADE IN MALAYSIA!!! |

Perbezaan utama 2 amp ne adalah fender tone dan marshall tone.
- seperti mana secara sejarahnya JTM45 adalah dari fender bassman nyer circuit. DAn JTM45 guna tone stack marshall.
- both sebenarnya adalah best clean tone utk all tube amp.
- kita ader marshall blues tone and ada fender blues tone kedua dua nya boleh bikin blues.
- tapi aku pun pilih marshall sebab aku tahu tone dia lebih jauh berbanding fender.
- pasal tube dan rectifier, sure browndog2woof can explain better.
- somthing like 5Y3GT vs GZ34. EL34 vs 6L6 vs KT66
- aku memang stuju, preamp tube, power tube n rectifier tube memang banyak main peranan akan tone kedua duanya.
Marshall n fender tone
- aku terang skit pasal tone stack keduanya.
Fender
Disinilah diorang call the bell sound
- biasanya dengan EL34 akan hasil good crunch tone. YAAA the breakup thing.
What the hell me cosmo talking bout tube amp!!! _________________ Maiden, loudness, ACDC, black sabath, deep purple, jimmi and vinnie moore

ohhh bestnye dapat info2 camni. thank you guys, A LOT! aku memang selama ni tak tau sangat circuit variations. A lot more to study though! But what I do know is, once you crank a marshall and hit a power chord, you won't go back to fender. Hehe
I guess not everyone plays blues & hard rock, so if you want some metal shred which one should you look for?
AFAIK Ceriatone tak buat cabs. You need to source them or build one yourself. I think that is the biggest drawback for us Malaysians from buying from Ceriatone as the cabs are very expensive if you wanna buy from overseas.
Any idea what wood to use, speakers, source for woods, any carpenter who does custom cabs etc? Anyone build any? |

ceriatone dah buat cabs la bro.. 2 x 12, 1 x 15, etc. etc. combo or head and cabs. just like vintage years. tolex only, no tweed. better view for yourself, hensem killer!

i pm Michael regarding this Junction amp and he replied this :
I use Ceriatone to assemble my amps and for "hand wired, point to point" tube amps, I believe they are the cheapest, but probably the best in the world. So my products will not be cheaper than Ceriatone.
If you want something cheaper then you will need to look a printed circuit board amps, most of the big names have cheap lines of PCB amps, which are manufactured in a machine in China or India, but please note that Tube PCB amps, whilst they will still sound great, may have reliability problems in 10 - 15 years time as PCB's generally do not last well in the hot tube environment.
Cheers

I see.. Can you point me to a direct link or something? Yang aku tau Nik has affiliates in the state yang tolong buat custom cabs & servicing utk customer2 die kat sana. Not too sure laa.
I'll sure pay a visit to ceriatone. Although aku x bercadang nak beli complete amp.
Maximum respect for Michael, totally different views than a few of our 'friends' who thought leaking such infos is a loss on their part. Very sad..
One question, is there any difference (quality wise) of the Ceriatone amps for the local vs international? Because IIRC I've read on Jamtank that Nik once offered to build an amp for RM1500 only for one of the Jamtankers. Different quality components maybe? I don't think Nik is doing him a favor though, because business is business right? I'll find the thread later. |
