Quote: | Copy of my post on Jam Tank Forum for your interest | I'm pissed off ....have been buying lots of gear 3 times over the last 2 months from Bentleys on my credit card. I now have a company cheque book, today I went to Bentley's to spend RM800 and asked if they would now accept my co. cheque as I do not want to use my peronal credit card for company purchases any more. The Boss, Mr Chan said yes but I would have to wait 2 or 3 days for it to clear. I said this is no good because I need the goods today for a job, so I offered to pay by cheque and they take an imprint and even my signature for a credit card transaction, if for some reason they have a problem with my cheque they can bill my credit card .... no, against store policy!!
I also asked if can I set up an account, so in future I don't have to wait for chq clearance. No we can't do that, it is against policy!
What a load of crap, I worked for Astro for 11 years and eveyone would bend over backwards to give them an account where Astro pay 30 or 60 days after the goods are delivered to them
I have been patiently trying to deal with the local guys, paying higher than recommended retail prices, in hope that they give a little trust back and support us little guys. After spending lots of bucks with Bentley's over the last 2 months and planning to spend double that with them in the next two months, you think they might treat you with some respect.
Now lets talk Woh Fatt, I hear many stories about how Woh Fatt won't let you touch their gear ... I'm a Mat Salleh, Woh Fatt throw their gear at me!! This sucks.
To go on, so many companies here quote higher than recommended retail prices, they must be trying to squeeze 50% profit margins.
I'm not trying to promote myself here, but my core business is the studio, but I am also distributring a couple of products that I use in the studio which I can also sell to friends, colleagues, clients or anyone at lower than retail prices.
So it is possible for Malaysian retailers to sell at lower than retail, just like you can get in the US thru all those online music stores. Maybe they have to cut profit margins a bit to do this, just like the guys in the US are doing sometimes on 5 or 10% profit margin only.
So whilst most stores here are not willing to budge on their margins, try to sell at ridiculous prices, provide poor service, give no trust to regular customers or are discriminatory in how they treat customers, we should all tell them to F#@K OFF and buy from those who provide good service or if there is no option, then buy from online stores.
Also, we should promote those Malaysian companies that provide good service and reasonable prices.
While I am discussing promotion, there is one comapny here that has just sold me something cheaper than any online price I could find anywhere .... mainly studio stuff but if you are in this market, definitely worth dealing with;

whew ... I feel better now that I have got that off my chest

I don't think most people who are active in musician's internet forums still buying from the stores.
Do they? _________________ Web Hosting |

i have to agree woth this topics.... I am not a frequent buyer of Bentley.... but i go to bentely since my age was 18, that was 14 years ago..... the service is dropping.... from year to year... and their nose is getting higher and higher... hidung tinggi la senang cerita....
Thats y i buy anything in bentley just in the last resort.... And i dont think Bentely got everything.... especially for guitar spare parts. even some screws and Allen key(Do i Spell it right?. Even they ask me to go to hardware shop for it.
And the salesman looking at us like we dont know anything about music... Crap bustard!!!
And the price are damn expensive compared to other store. There was a case my friend are desperately need a multiple Effect, after negotiated bentley offered us consider higher price compared to the same model i bought from somewhere else. Even I brought the receipt as prove it was cheaper at other store. And still they didnt want to reduce the price competable with the price i bought. Really frustating.
So... bentley now for me is a place for to look around and keep me in update of laters version of guitars and gadget. I think i have the same feeling when I walk to the museum or some Pameran. It just for viewing purpose. To buy? No way.. I go to another place. _________________ http://electricguitartips.net

The reason Bentley doing what they does is just because they can. Kalau kat US atau tempat2 lain where online stores with vast array of choices & stocks took over the business diorang memag takleh cari makan punya. It wouldn't be too long until every single musician in Malaysia knows how to use the internet, credit card, maybank2u, paypal & look for better alternatives. Heck even Singapore has already started the wave of online shopping, Malaysia wouldn't be too far away to be affected sooner or later. |

kalau ada distributor atau factory yg bg drop-ship, mesti boleh buat online store.. But we still dont have true M'sian electronic payment that allow us withdraw money from local banks. Paypal/e-gold/e-bullion etc tak boleh withdraw from local bank kecuali credit card saja.
Omar, tak nak buat ke eringgit.com atau erm.com .. ramai yg boleh dpt benefit termasuk kaki judi online, forex players etc.. huhu.. _________________ Gelanggang guitar : http://guitarden.starahead.com |

well maybe can use maybank2u..that's quite common for the time being..
cuba tgk website ni www.shashinki.com online malaysian camera store..
uses maybank2u method and also regular check/wire transfer
if can start now - you can be a pioneer for this market _________________ my photoblog - http://sigemok.blogspot.com |

online payment is not the biggie IMO. Banyak cara sebenarnye. Lagipun the banks revolves ikut market, kalau banyak demand banyak lagi bank2 akan ikut maybank2u.
The only real problem is sape yang nak ambil risiko stock barang banyak2 ribu2 ringgit pastu jual online. Kalau sikit2 je tak banyak untung = harga takkan turun/byk beza dengan stores.
But I believe sooner or later akan jadi jugak. |

Retailers in the US can always go for volume.
Its easier for them to sell at a lower price when cash flow is good.
In Malaysia, a Gibson Les Paul that might take few weeks to sell in the US might take months or even years to sell here.
Rent, utility bills, wages have to be paid while waiting for money to roll.
Its inevitable to raise the price. How much to raise is another matter.
mr woof!
jgn lupa ajak aku nanti.
dari dulu lagi aku nak beli ceriatone sebenarnya tapi takde tpt nak main je
barang baru ade tapi semua not for sale
for now at least.. hehe _________________ Web Hosting |
