Ok...being in UK on a project basis means that I can't actually setup a proper desktop recording station so I'm left with my HP laptop which has only 512mb RAM and maybe 1.8Ghz speed ( i think )
what's the best way for me to record guitar and vocals? if i use an external usb recording device, i bet the latency is pretty bad on those right?
i was thinking of m-audio firewire solo recording box - any idea how much is this in Malaysia?
any other suggestions? I only need an xlr input and one line input for guitar _________________ my photoblog - http://sigemok.blogspot.com |

USB skrg dah laju sikit.. dulu speed dia slower. Itu pun still ok. Problem latency wujud bila ko dah ada terlalu byk track, then bila nak record, ko stream sekali track tu dalam masa yg sama the whole signal use your usb interface utk input dan output source. So ko bayangkan la input signal + output signal from those multiple tracks require huge bandwidth tp terpaksa lalu kat USB connection yg speed dia limited (dulu 1.1 skrg 2.0 atau mungkin dah lebih laju). _________________ Gelanggang guitar : http://guitarden.starahead.com |

Omar : I'm with amir.. gua pun rekomen lu angkat itu toneport.
kalau utk record saja.. 512RAM dah cukup. but kalau ko nak mix..nak pakai mcm2 plugin and samples.. then upgrade la ke 1GB.
aku pernah gak pakai USB audio interface hooked up to laptop. tak rasa plak cam teruk lebenor latency dia. ok jek la pada aku.
ok dah.. pi beli 2 toneport tu ok?. utk aku 1 hehe _________________ [ Kluk Kluk Adventure ] | [ Call the Paramedics ] | [ Dot ] | [ AJEEPEK ] |

I would suggest you to use this. sE USB2200a microphone, I have tested the demo unit I got and found out it's as great as Bob Bradley(Sugababes producer) claims which it's useful for traveling use.
It has direct headphone monitoring(volume knob included), extremely low noice and latency, PC/MAC switch(MAC need 15dB boost for Signal) and the most important thing is it is based on the sound of sE2200a and an option of XLR just in case you want to use it as convertional mic. It work with almost all the squencing software and you just need a ASIO for all driver download.
I will pm you the Bob Bradley PR. For the price of 1K+, you basically get a mic which need no other device to record, I think it should be decent choice.
