I'm getting an EMG 81 for my LTD Viper 50, and I'm wondering if it can be connected to the basic 250k pots if I leave the tone and volume knobs at 10? What effect will it have on my sound?

EMG active pakai 25k bang. both volume and tone sebab active pickup biasanya guna low independen pot. dalam range 10k - 50k.
Boleh sebenarnya pakai 250k, tapi baru pusing skit volume boleh zero trus. volume x der masalah if u always set for max 10.

oh, ya la. aku punya emg pakai 25k, but kawan aku dah hot rod pakai 250k, waktu tu aku belum dapat cari pots tu dulu, luckily kawan aku dah blend kat strat dia, aku ambik kat gg's for his strat dah mixed with passive. is there a possibility dia pakai twin pots with resistor kot?

Hi Guys,
Here's an EMG- Not certified solution - they want you to buy their afterburner preamp... thats why... 
but it works.
The main problem blending is when you MIX both pickups at Parallel position, you'll hear the active speaking the passive quite. Why? Passive pikcups has more inbuilt resistance. compared to active, which uses an internal preamp to boost its signal.. hence, the signal uses the Less resistive route. - the active route. - basic electronic principle-
Here;s what you do
2 choice- Use 2 diffrent volume pots- possible on strats( convert your neck tone into a volume and master the tone control. and LP's / just use direct replacements 25k pots.

Make a simple pre-amp!!! to boost your passive pickups!! its simple.. for DIY schematics, Email me !!
