Actually, your multi-colored image already explains psychadelia: it's a sort of mind-twisting mixture which can be interpreted in different ways depending on your mood...so if you listen to the same music on different days, you will "feel" it differenty.
In my younger days, psychaelic music was popular among the rebellious youth (yes, me too!)....sort of like death metal today. But of course in those days, there was a lot of drugs going around so people's minds was spinning alot and this kind of music seemed "logical" to a spinning mind.
You also have to understand that synthesizers in those days were not like today.....involved a lot of wires and plugs going in and out of different oscillators, a LOT of pulling and pushing of plugs and buttons by keyboardists to create the strange layers of sounds, but this made them use creativity to a maximum, and the music was as much physical as it was for the ears even though this was "high-tech" music of it's time.
*sigh* it was a different zaman. Like wayang kulit, it is gone to you youngsters,because the environment in which it was performed does not exist today.
Pink Floyd: Dark Side of The Moon was probably one of their best albums.
Unfortunately, over here everybody only knows "Another Brick In tThe Wall" (from "The Wall" album) like a stupid jingle, makes me vomit when I hear bands play that silly part again and again, cos they are only playing a tiny piece of the actual album/song concept, and they are reducing a powerful anti-war album into a comical jingle. |

sepanjang era 60an..dua album yg tertera kat atas nie adalah 2 album psychedelic terbaik sepanjang era 60an..kedua dua album nie dihasilkan pada tahun 1967..dan ya..the beatles mengatasi pink floyd dr segi penerimaan dan juga jualan..klau korg dgr dua2 album nie korg akan dpti perbezaan adunan psychedelic yg cuba utk disampaikan oleh kedua dua band nie..cuba dengar penggunaan instrument kedua dua band nie..
byk perbezaan penggunaan instrument dan lihat penghasilan yg diadunkan oleh kedua dua band nie..psychedelic x semestinya bergantung dkt pedal2 kotak pemijak gitaris..dan x semestinya psychedelic tuh xkan lengkap tanpa synthesizer/organ/keyboard..dan x semestinya penghasilan bunyinya seakan akan space rock ker aper ker kan yg journalist2 yg ada kat sepelusuk dunia nia sibuk labelkan genre seseorg/sesebuah artis tuhh..psychedelic adalah pemikiran..klau bg aku laa kann..bg korg aku mmg x tau laa...dlm album nie satu satunya album di bawah pengaruh besar SYD BARRET..bezanya album nie dgn album2 pink floyd yg lain mmg ketara..sbb tuh pink floyd x dpt nak hasilkan album cam tuh lg sbb BARRET jer yg tahu formula penghasilan music yg camtuh.. klau korg dgr THE WALL..korg akan dpti idea2 yg dihasilkan oleh WATERS adalah idea2 asal BARRET yg dulunya WATERS anggap BARRET nie mengarut giler dgn idea pemikiran yg ntah aper2 ntah bg WATERS masa tuhh..
sama gak dgn the beatles masa tuhh...lepas jer REVOLVER meletup..
dorg hasilkan plak SGT. PEPPER's LONELY HEART CLUB BAND..album yg paling tinggi penjualannya dlm byk2 album dorg nie..hampir 30 juta unit terjual worldwide sampai tahun 1997..tp..x dpt beat DARK SIDE OF THE MOON(lebih 30 juta unit terjual masa tuh)..bg aku dua2 album nie adalah dibawah pengaruh DRUGS..LSD memainkan peranan yg besar dlm setiap penghasilan idea yg disusun aturkan oleh McCARTNEY dgn LENNON.. dgr WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS..A DAY IN A LIFE adalah lagu terbaik THE BEATLES bg aku laa..hahaa..cuba dgr WITHIN YOU WITHOUT YOU..dan dlm byk2 lagu dlm album nie...cuba fokuskan kat lagu LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMOND..lagu yg aku kira aku buleh katakan sebuah lagu fantasi yg digarap oleh pemikiran yg subconscious..
nie statement aku dlm psychedelic nie..aper yg aku buleh huraikan dr aper yg aku dah diperdengarkan oleh band2 psychedelic nie..sbnrnya byk lg band2 psychedelic yg sama hebat dgn the beatles dgn pink floyd nie masa 60's dulu.. cuma kebanyakannya x sampai jerr kat deria pendengaran pendengar2 kat MALAYSIA nie..so..rajin2 laa korg kaji band2 psychedelic yg ada masa 60's..tuh yg aku buat dgn bandmate aku dlm menghasilkan karya2 kitorg yg ada..kitorg kaji band2/artist2 lama nie..dari blues..ker folk..ker rock 'n' roll..kerr country..ker psychedelic..
ker punk..dan hasil yg kitorg dpt..alhamdulillah..kitorg suka dgn aper yg kitorg dah achieved dlm memahami pembentukan susunan music kitorg sendiri..jgn lupakan zapin & keroncong... |

ade skali tu..
aku g beli tiket kt segamat..sekitar tahun 98-99..
waktu ptg..
cuaca ok.
mase aku beli tiket tu..aku lepak makan skali kt satu warung..
mase makan tu kuar lagu malay aku kire2 lagu tahun 60-70 nye zaman..
mmg saikedelik lah lagu tu..tapi aku tk tau ape band sape nyanyi..yg aku tau suara laki ngan pompan..*kalo aku dgr lagi for sure aku kasi tau korang sume! hahaha..mende skali je dtg! hahaha..
then setelah beberape lame ..
aku ngan vokalis dan beberape kawan duk dlm kete,sekitar tahun 2006 kot...
perjalanan tk igt tuju kemana..
we all tgh listen radio ape pon aku tk tau..
tapi kuar lagu malay!
dan lagi skali ..aku rase zaman 60-70 nye band nih!
mmg DOors!!! habes nye sound..
siap ade patern2 sound Doors ..beat pon lebey kurang..
dan mcm biase in bahasa melayu..
aku mcm terkejut! kewak betol lah..
apesal dorg tk expose band2 camni now!..
idea tu..
we all sume tunggu je dlm kete..bile dj ni nk sebut nama band oldskool ni..skali tk sebut2 gk..kempunan lagi skali..

what the f#@k is PSYCHEDELIC? aku ringkaskan dan permudahkan untuk senang faham.
1) muzik psychedelic adalah evolusi muzik pop dan rock.
2) muzik ni muncul @ timbul bersama :
i) dari tv hitam putih ke colour.
- secara tidak langsung, fesyen pun berubah. beatles (*contoh mudah - tidak lagi pakai fesyen tie kecik, seluar yengki dengan blazer sendat.
Bila tv dah color, org nak tengok warna.)
ii) rakyat amerika (terutama golongan muda) tengah marah dan sedih
pasal perang vietnam. Mereka perlukan sesuatu yg boleh menceriakan diri sendiri. Rebels yg dilepaskan melalui muzik rock n roll tak cukup bold dan dah out dated . Psychedelic ( psyho sebenarnya) seolah satu reformasi seperti mana generasi jepun selepas kena bom atom.
iii) Peningkatan teknologi.
- Gitar karan, amps besar kemudian..bunyi-bunyian (pedals) mula
diperkenalkan secara komersial. Delay, fuzz, phaser, octave dan mcm-mcm lagi merupakan gadget yang sedang IN ketika tu. Mcm mula-mula kita dapat teknologi handphone. Kira , siapa ada yg pelik, bunyi lain dari yg lain, paling latest..kira gempakla. Dengan pelbagai bunyi ni, pemuzik pun mula bereksperiment. Mereka langgar gabungan bunyi yang selama ni kedengaran bersih, kemas dan berharmoni.
iV) dadah
- bila trend baru menular, dadah pun ikut sama. mcm xtacy di kaitkan dengan muzik techno. Zaman ni ada dadah yg turut sama popular. Tak payahla kita citer panjang pada bende yg x beri faedah ni. pada yg bawah umur...lebih baik xtahu langsung pasal hal-hal begini.
v) komposisi muzik
Era psychedelic adalah gabungan rock n roll ( rock), blues , indian music ( ini juga berkait rapat dengan fesyen (* yg penuh warna warni @ & gaya hidup masyarakat timur yg mula dilihat lebih sederhana, murni & spiritual dimata masyarakat barat ketika itu) dan r n b). Dengan bunyi gitar yg semakin kasar dan tebal , lyrics yang bertemakan protes menjadi pelengkap.
vi) 66 - 73
era @ kemuncak psychedelic tak lama. hujung 66 hingga 72-73 adalah
merupakan tahun sebenar album-album psychedelic yg betul2 pure. Selepas itu, muzik mula bertukar wajah sedikit demi sedikit. Punk mula muncul bersama disko ( kira muzik underground la pada masa tu sebelum umum terima secara terbuka.) Dari psychedelic ..perlahan-lahan bertukar kepada progresif rock & fusion (gabungan muzik psychedelic & jazz).
menariknya era psychedelic ni - ia merupakan zaman serba experimental kepada apa sahaja bentuk kehidupan yang menuju ke arus kemodenan pada ketika itu.
Circle ini terjadi balik dalam industri muzik rock era grunge dan alternative. Now, what the f@#K is grunge?
