I have Superlux pop filter HM-18AG

# HM-18AG is designed on the basis of HM-18A, which includes all its features and provides other necessary connecting accessories. By adjusting the clip bolt, it can be easily fixed to any place with edge.
# The standard accessories for wind screen include one HM-18A (POP screen with tual layers of nylon silk) and one HM-18B (POP screen with tual layers of carbon steel), both use 5/8"x27T screw adaptors to connect.

Please dropby our show room: MIDI Specialist Smile

This is all nice and dandy, but even the most expensive gear wouldn't help you produce better music if you can't actually hear accurately!

The rooms we have all been mixing in are all big fat liars. We've been lied to all this while.

Nobody seems to be paying attention to acoustical treatment over here. For the typical home recordist, low-budget acoustic treatment is next to impossible to achieve.

The only way to have decent acoustic treatments is to hire a big-time contractor who will really butcher you and swallow all your money.

I think people here need to make low-budget acoustic treatment stores. Things like acoustic foam, DIY vocal booths, bass traps, etc. I'm sure it'll be good business, especially for all of us home recordists who are looking to create the best sounding setup, while spending the least amount of money possible.

Random rant: It's just my opinion, but I think people here don't really like to share acoustic treatment tips and tricks. Why? Kedekut ilmu? It's really frustrating when you've asked so many people, from amateurs to experts, who all don't give you a clear answer, and certainly won't tell you where to buy acoustic treatment material. In the end you come home with nothing, and are stuck mixing in that deceiving beadroom at home.

And then you wonder, "why do my mixes sound like crap?".

yeah good point there!

so far i've never miked anything for my recordings, everything is plugged in directly into the mixer or programmed with midi softwares.. and of course no vocals involved in my songs. come to think of it, it's gonna be hell if one day i've to record vocal or acoustic guitar tracks, even if i use a good condenser mic!

A quick solution for home recordists who want to record acoustic equipment or vocals is to buy a bunch of old mattresses from the apeks who sell them... (TILAM TILAM... TILAM LAMA...)

Just surround yourself with the tilams standing all around you. Quick solution.

Nobody still knows where to buy PROPER acoustic foams, like the ones used in real studios? And bass traps?

Hello,

This is my first post in iBands.net
As far as I know, acoustic treatment is a very tough issue to deal with in home studios. There aren't any suppliers of "real" acoustic foam and bass traps. You have to order them from the USA and Singapore. Beware, there are some "hifi" shops that sell acoustic foam for RM25 for a 2x2 feet tile. They are rip-offs bcos

1) Not as effective as real acoustic foam (actual acoustic foam has an open-celled structure)
2) Far too expensive (for dishwashing sponge)
3) Fire hazard, not as fire retardant as the real-thing

There are resources on how to build your own DIY bass traps and panels from the Internet (try Sound on Sound magazine's online forum www.soundonsound.com). The materials used are pretty common (rockwool, MDF, drywall) but some of them can be pretty costly (especially rockwool which can only be purchased in bulk).

My studio uses a combination of Auralex and heavy drapes (with special attention to the mix position). The bass response still needs to be improved upon (considering RealTraps bass traps). Keep monitoring small and accurate; and alwasy compare your mixes with commercial material.

Cheers. For more info regarding the studio email me at the address below.

We currently have a Line 6 Vetta II 2x12 combo. In terms of power and tone, it stands up to a 4x12 anytime of the day. (It is incredibly loud for a 2x12).

However, if you prefer a good 'ol Marshall stack, or some other particular amp, arrangements can be made to upon request.

What sort of recording would you be interested to do? I read your post and it says that you've never tried miking amps and instruments before?

To answer your last question; yes.

I'm no amp whiz either. To me, a piece of gear is merely a tool to get your music out. There'll be some out there who will be quick to shoot down Line 6, but to me whats important is the music, not the equipment.

Feel free to check out the studio. Preciously, I was operating in Synchrosound, but after it shutdown I've set up my own place in TTDI.

Your wife? NO KIDDING!!! She ROCKS too *oops!*

This may sound funny but..

turn on air conds..
get a duvet..
get on a nice fluffy old bed..
completely cover yourself with the duvet..
hit record!

if u need reverb or more 'room' in your tracks then do it via post editing.

I actually get this somewhere in www Razz
