Salam...

System requirement macamana patut aku beli?

Extra notes:

1. Ni PC SOLELY for recording purpose, lain2 hal aku pakai separate system, so tak kacau system ni.
2. Nak beli yang 2nd, old models atau refurbished sebab limited budget nak beli yang up-to-date punya system.
3. Intensity of recording? Takde la sampai nak rilis album tapi cukup la sekadar boleh jadi exceptional quality demo-CD.
4. Specs camana? RAM?

terima kasih kerana membaca dan sama2 dok tolong pikir... Very Happy

okay my dream modular budget system would be:
1. Laptop
2. DAW software
3. Interface/breakout box (at least 4 mic pres..MOTU utra-lite, traveler, presonus? )
4. varieties of enrty level branded mics (SM57, 58 etc.)

paling murah berapa boleh dapat ah? lets say I want to start with only a pair of mics first..

aku pun tgh plan nak upgrade pc. RAM 1GB dah ada. Audio interface dah ada 1 EMU. sblm ni pun beli part by part. cuma nak tau jenis processor & m/board yg elok. janji cukup syarat nak layan 3-4 jenis VST samplering software.

mr poundcake, apa tu DAW software?

bro langsuyr,

hijack thread ko bulih? Twisted Evil

aku pun plan nak build a dedicated DAW mcm ko. Going mixerless:
guitar ---> GT-8 ---> audio interface ---> PC
mic (vocal)---> audio interface ---> PC

Cuma maybe our needs differ. I'm a one band man, jack of all music, master of none. Cool simply put, aku lah gitaris & vokalisnye, bassist nak guna kepakaran Mr Bornemark Broomstick & drums by Mr ezDrummer. aku nak main all sort of genre, from sentimental to sentiMETAL!!!

i'm totally new to this audio recording world and not a computer expert either. i was recommended these specs for my DAW:

Vista OS (XP perhaps?)
Intel Core2Duo 2.0 Ghz chip
Asus/MSI/Gigabyte MOBO (Intel chipset)
2 GB RAM
HDD 7,200rpm 320 GB
Graphic card (I guess normal card will do)
DVD-RW
17” LCD
Casing (not into disco lights and stuff)
PSU 450W
Keyboard & mouse
Firewire port

i dunno how much it would cost me for the specs. My budget is only 3k, including an audio interface (tak decide lagi which one. But Audiofire 4 & M-Audio Firewire 410 are in my preferred list now. Korang boleh recommend yg sesuai my abovementioned needs tak?). Mic, monitor & MIDI keyboard kena guna budget lain. On the mic for vocal, aku mula2 nak pakai condenser but found out that u need room treatment. so i'll settle for Shure SM58. sekarang aku tgh usha lagi harga brg2 ni. nanti ada feedback, aku bagitau.

maybe the rest can comment on the above set-up Cool

been getting a lot of complains from friends using Vista. anybody here using vista for DAW? I'm still using XP and probably will be using it for a while longer.

dude, get a display card with dual monitor support! will make your workspace damn more comfortable.

initially, i gave a thought on having dual monitors (looks cool kan... mcm gempak2 je...) but due to my newbie status, i decided not to have it since i can't even handle one monitor Embarassed your post made me think that better get it dual monitor ready, use or not different story. i'll definitely go for that display card. thanks ajeep!

Agreed. Stay away from Vista. Most software and hardware manufacturers still do not recommend Vista. Stick with XP if you're serious about having a stable DAW platform.

There are many teach yourself books on this subject. You can find them at Kinikonuya, Borders or MPH Midvalley. Clear, concise and written simply and targeted at beginners. There are also books for intermediate and advance users found there. You can also buy the magazine "Computer Music" by Future Publications which gives a lot of insights on this subject and is available at the bookstores mentioned or go to Kiddies Store, Ground Floor, Ampang Park, they have the latest issue in stock. Alternatively you can go to http://www.pcaudiolabs.com and send your enquiries, they are very helpful. Among the questions you might want to ask are as follows:

1. What audio/midi hardware do you plan to use?

2. What audio/midi software do you plan to use?

3. Do you need any hardware or software for this system?

4. What sample rate and bit depth do you want to use for recording?

Enjoy your adventure. Cool Cool Cool[/quote]
