Ibanez Valbee. With effects loop some more.
5 watt (good to be able to achieve that tube tone without being too loud)
Too bad I can't find it where I am at.
In Singapore it's selling quite cheap. |
Cool...this sounds really interesting.... goes to show how much out of touch I am with musical technology nowadays... I guess I am stuck in the emulation world for the time being.
Erylasia just introduced me to Amplitube Metal..heh really cool piece of software...very convincing too... Cuma its quite heavy on the CPU lah...time for a PC upgrade??? hmmmmmm....... |
No way, it's not that cpu intensive. I am using an old 2002 amd XP 2200 (1.8 ghz) cpu with it. No problems, can get any tone I want, as long you got proper drivers.
The issue is the lag/delay, which can be solved by either getting a proper soundcard with low latency and decent ASIO drivers, or you can use your existing onboard mobo sound with a good asio4all driver.
http://www.asio4all.com/
This cuts the lag to under 10 ms (set it yourself in the driver settings and that of amplitube). No need to buy any expensive sound card. Chapalang 30 ringgit or built-in mobo sound also can already.
The problem is your guitar must go through some proper device before putting it through the line-in port of the soundcard/board.
I personally use a zoom g1 effects unit, set to clean totally and flat out all the EQ, then insert it into the sound board's line in.
This is cheaper than paying over 400 for a real di box or anything to clean the signal to proper impedance. I also tried using a microcube (set to clean) and also a cheap marshall ms-4 (rm 200++) mini-amp.
You can use just about any amp/preamp you have (but set the volume low) but a mixer/di box works better.
I'll avoid the mic input on the soundcard though, that one will color the tone too much using it's terrible built-in pre-amp. |

FYI i have been using ASIO4ALL for donkeys years...and BTW i am using a shittier CPU than yours Athlon XP 1800+, and even with 2Gb of DDRAM it is struggling because i use EZdrummer the Drumkit from Hell addon...not only that...i am also using a lot of VST's on my master mixer so it is really struggling...
Even with one instance of Amplitube MetL in Nuendo, it already takes up to 37% of my processing power...
hehe my PC is very old |
