Kalau anda ada 2 jenis gitar.

1. Strat.

2. Les Paul.

Hari hari practis, tukar gitar ikut hari genap ke ganjil.

Tapi kedua-dua gitar ni, scale length tak sama.

Apa jadi kalau anda berlatih dengan kedua-dua gitar?

Saya suspek ini tak bagus untuk brain muscle, sebab scale length different... can really screw you up...

aku rasa takda masalah kot.. sebab kawan kerja aku hari2 repair guitar, jadi automatik hari2 die kena main gitar2 lain ... dah 6 tahun macam tuh jadi amalan so far aku tgk dia takda masalah ... aku sendiri pun kat tempat kerja dengan jackson aku, balik umah main ltd aku, scale length pun lain2...

aku rasa maybe lebih kurang macam ko ada satu elektrik satu akustik ... aku rasa takda masalah ... tapi ini cuma pendapat aku aja... hehehehe Wink

Saya tanya sebab tadi saya practice lagu dengan strat.

Boleh main cepat dan bersih.

Relek 2-3 jam, resume tapi tukar ke les paul.

Action sama je tapi string gauge from 9 on strat to 10 on LP.

Bukannya tension pun talinya tapi tak berapa clean dan cepat.

Saya takut ini boleh screw up my brain muscles for that song.

Kengkadang the same strat guitar tapi dengan berbeza profile neck pun kita rasa tak selesa.
- even gua ada defferent guitar for scaling or finger exercise dengan tali keras nak mampus.
- and other guitar to play the song.
- feel lain tapi stil boleh apply teknik yg sama pada mana mana keduanya.
- Even kengkadang kita perlukan feel guitar berbeza utk defferent song.

- Aku lebih percaya, aper ajer yg kita ingin belajar or maju. Dia punya keyword adalah berterusan.
- kalo u nak jadi better guitarist kena la pratise berterusan.
- kalo jarang jarang main guitar macam gua [cakap jer lebih], bila nak inprove the play... hahhahahahahha.

Aku ada 3 guitar yg gua selalu main, tapi semua profile berbeza. Tapi walo cam mana pun gua prefer small size neck yg sesuai utk size tangan gua.
- before gua pernah pakai jackson guitar yg terlalu besar neck nya utk tangan gua.
- bebulan juga nak tuning jari nak bagi selesa dengan fretboard dan bridge, berat n shape.
- tapi still i have no problem dengan my previous guitar, malah i rasa lagi selesa pasal previous guitar lagi kecik dan banyak ruang utk tangan bergerak. lebih release kata orang.

Tajuk ni very interesting...from my observation ada dua extremes di sini.....kalau kita perhatikan...terdapat segolongan gitaris yang suka stick tu satu jenis gitar...kalau yg dgn strat...strat je...contoh...Ritchie Blackmore, David Gilmour, Eric Clapton, Eric Johnson...etc....etc...kalau di local scene, yg boleh dikategorikan sebagai strat addicts...mcm, Aji, Jamie Wilson, Paul Ponodurai, Josie Thomas...dan...lain...Ada pula yg kira les paul addicts...mcm Jimmy Page, Zakk Wylde...etc...yg gila flying V pun ada...Michael Schenker dan abg dia Rudolph... Ada pula satu kategori lagi..yg dalam satu konsert pakai sampai 3 hingga 4 jenis gitar...yg aku boleh ingat skrg ni, sebab baru tgk kt TV beberapa hari lepas....Ritchie Sambora....dan ramai lagi....

So, kesimpulannya....ada yg memang malas nak tukar2 gitar...ada pulak yg sgt "particular" tentang different tone atau feel dari pelbagai jenis gitar...so bak kata org2 tua...kalau kita translate kpd bahasa Inggeris..."hit your chest, ask your appetite..."...tepuk dada tanya selera...

Utk aku...strat is my favourite...mgkn sebab tok guru pun pakai strat....tapi, aku guna aku punya Parker P42, utk humbucker punya sound...dan juga sebagai back up...cukuplah...utk level aku yg tak seberapa ni...

good point.

untuk manusi bersaiz kecil macam aku, grip kecik, tangan kecik, aku x berapa sangat strat. dont get me wrong, aku jeles je tgk izzi pulas neck strat tu. mmg x leh.

so aku settle down ngan cort g series aku. plus, aku bukan kaki blues sgt so worth la aku pakai cort ni.

Dont worry, our brain's truly robust. Brain muscle akan adapt routine yang ko buat. So apa guitar yg ko guna selalu? Strat and Les Paul. Dia akan adapt kedua2 gitar tu mcm switcher. Sedangkan dalam single guitar pun spacing berbeza dari 1st - 22nd fret selamba je jari kita auto adjust.

Your argument is right only if we also use our eyes during guitar playing/shredding.

What about those who play without looking at the fretboard?

They have the fret spacing (scale length) ingrained into their brain muscle when they play.

If suddenly give them a Les paul with different scale length, surely they cannot move their finger according to the spaces they adjusted in brain?

Note sure salah dan tak clear.

But I am more worried about during practice when you don't give your brain/muscle to adjust to 1 scale length before you switch to another, it *might* do some harm to your playing and slow down progress.

That's why usually people either stick to a les paul or a strat, but seldom use both together for long periods.

Some people may change multiple brands/types of guitars but they usually all have the same scale length, so switching to ibanez shouldn't be problem for strat players assuming the series were made with the same scale length, fret spacing.

But switching to those using lespaul scale length and fret spacing might be easier for strat players than it is for les paul players to strat scale length.

Don't underestimate your brain....
If you're a person who play from your soul...
regardless what guitar, you will have no problem playing it...

If you trying to master both, of course progress will be alot slower.
try to master one... make one as a backup...
as they always says "jack of all trade, master of none".
