well.....
actually nak tanye sket nih....
1) antara VST ngan rackmount fx or pedals mane yg lebih korang prefer? especially mase time mixing.....
2) ape beza kalau kite direct record sekali ngan effects (delay...etc) than masukkan effects kemudian....
3) kalau nak masuk fx kemudian.....hmmm...kekadang ade prob bile nak monitoring sebab latency.....well selalunya aku pakai direct through hardware output....so x de latency yg dpt diperasankan.....
cth: mase record solo especially......bile x de delay menyebabkan perasaan bodoh dan bangang sebab sustain die pendek...tetapi kalau nak guna delay untuk monitor spt VST...lambat pulak bunyi yg kuar....so ape solution?
4) jika nak masuk fx mase mix.....selain vst dan processor.....ade x yg guna pedal?
5) aku ade pikir nak guna rack effects je untuk kurangkan beban processor....tp dr segi sound.....adeke beza dr guna vst? _________________ GEAR:

1) aku suka vst lagi, tambah2 waktu mixing
2) susah waktu nak mixing, dah siap2 ada reverb, delay
3) ko pakai soundcard apa? kalau soundcard ko ada asio 2.0 sepatutnye takde masalah latency tu.. ade masalah kalau buffer samples dia tinggi sgt, cuba rendahkan?
4) aku tak paham soklan ko
5) kalau mcmtu, baik ko beli UAD2 card _________________ http://www.reverbnation.com/synsmusic |

1) time mixing aku suke vst, tapi ade seketol dua rack syok gak..:p
2) bagi aku raw record lagi bagus senang nak renderkan,
3) kalau hang pakai soundcard yg sepatutnya tak kan timbul masalah nih,,
4) biasa orang masuk fx guna vst je,,
5) pada Beli Rack yg riban2, baik Upgrade PC supaya dia tidak beban lagi..hihihii _________________ http://www.reverbnation.com/erylasia

thx...ade opinion lain?......nway aku akan try test,,,
actually..soundcard yg aku pakai MOTU traveller and software MOTU Digital Performer 6. on a mac based. x tau la......kalau dulu pakai pc memang ade option untuk ASIO sume tu....tp x silap pakai mac cume guna apple core audio sahaja.....
UAD card eh.....hmmm ok gak cadangan tu.....
biase berape buffer size korang letak eh?
ade gak pikir nak upgrade computer nih.....cume pasal mahal nak mampus kalau nak tukar mac pro....bukan ape...aku guna komputer untuk video sekali untuk keje....so alang2 beli satu je....jimat....
p.s...
pasal soalan no 4 tu....
actually aku ade gak pikir mcm mase time mix send satu bus out ke salah satu channel then masuk ke pedal kemudian masuk balik ke input lain interface.....biase gune ni untuk rack effects......ala mcm mix zaman old school gak kalau x silap......nway......what if dr gune rack effects...gune pedal? (ade ke org buat cam nih).....
nway interface ni ade 8 analog in/out, 4 dr in tu siap ade mic preamp....
so senang nak hook up in out kepada outboard...... bukan ape....
walau pun record ni digital......tetapi aku nak dia seanalog mungkin...(poyo sial....kalau dh digital tu digital je lah kan......lol.....)
other comments are welcomed.....byk lagi aku kene belajar nih... _________________ GEAR:

depends pada pedal gak... kalau ko pi masuk ke Metal Zone mmg hampeh la! hahah tapi aku pernah tgk dvd Lamb Of God "The Making Of Sacrament", dia bikin satu track guitar tu, masuk ke wah pedal.. tapi aku tak sure la wah efx tu hasil dari midi automation atau dia rekod balik signal gitar yg dah di proses dgn wah.... _________________ > facebook

tula aku pun prefer effect kemudian.
tapi kadang orang ni degil. mcm special bebenor bunyi delay dia pakai. nak gakk pakai hok tu. gila susah nak mix.
but for effects yg pelik2 yg aku sendiri tak reti nak recreate. aku soh jek dia record terus ngan effek2 dia tu. _________________ [ Kluk Kluk Adventure ] | [ Call the Paramedics ] | [ Dot ] | [ AJEEPEK ] |

Always record clean - tanpa effect la.. effects tu boleh add masa mixing later.
Why?kalau dah rekod dengan effect tak boleh "undo" effect tu. tambah2 kalo let say, delay tu tak berapa ngam tempo dengan beat lagu..
In fact utk gitar ber- distortion pun record clean, process later dengan jenis amp apa yg ko suka pakai la plug-in apa amplitube ke etc. ini kita panggil "re-amped".
If masa nak record tu takde delay, chorus etc ko tak datang feel, ko tiru la Slash record masa Use Your Illusion nyer album:
from guitar, kena split dulu signal pada 2:
-satu pegi ke record
-satu lagi pegi ke amp untuk your monitoring..taruh le effect situ
TAPI : separation kena ada la.. ko taknak bunyi daripada amp utk monitor tu masuk dalam proses tracking ko tu..susah skit kalo buat kat bedroom ni.. cable kena panjang
Macamana nak split?
-beli a/b or a/b/y box - brand mcm2.. Lehle, tonebobe etc..
-ada DI yg boleh split signal..behringer pon ada ni..
boleh jugak:
kalo ada line-out from ur soundcard boleh tap signal drp situ masuk amp utk monitor then boleh boh effect kat situ. Tapi yg ni takut Latency la.. kalau ur recording setup pakai breakout box can Presonuske, or MOTU takde masalah le..
p/s Dengar lagu "Don't Cry" ada part last solo tu ada bunyi wailing.. actually itu bunyi feedback drp monitoring masa Slash record.. somehow mcmana masuk jugak ke dalam track tapi diorang guna gak pasal bunyi ok. _________________ save me from myself of what's left of my soul after I've sold some part of it |

DI Box are good for this if u'r are using direct conection recording
will try this one day!

my opinion is there's no rules to recording or mixing.
I would use my guitar effects 1st then on tweak it with vst after when mixing. U just have to know what your looking for. And if you really like the sound u have from an external effects. USE IT! don't settle for something less cos of some technical issues.
It limits you in a good way also sometimes. Some engineer tends to over do it when having the ability to tweak with plugins. but having a dry signal as an option would be nice as well.
Don't think u should be having latency prob if ur using a MOTU. Possibly just some setting u need to make. Try not to use heavy plugins during recording as well. E.g if u add a SIR in your project it will drastically raise up the latency level.
u can route out ur signal to anything that works for you. Rack or pedal or amp ...etc. |
