blues still kene blaja walaupun xnak main metal.
kirenyer, paling asas dalam main guitar nie, bagi aku, kene tau blues ar. so, aku assume that the thread starter dah ader basic, which is blues.
try main cromatic scale. band metal memaner pun, mesti pakai cromatic nyer.
then jangan lupa utk dgr old metal mcm iron maiden, sabbath. drp maiden, ko bley dapat mcm2 idea utk lagu ko sendiri. |

i think kirk uses a lot of pentatonic and chromatic in his solos...just look at fade to black, it's mainly basic Bm pentatonic all the way babeh!
tonardo of soul uses Bm pentatonic as well i think...
so yeah...i guess u'd covered it all if you'd learn to master the pentatonic pattern in the fretboard...
then just add some chromatic scales in between - and as long as it doesnt sound sumbang....balun je!
i think slayer's solos are perhaps a bit non-melodic - so i reckon he uses a lot of chromatic
maybe u could try to get some arabic influences into those songs - then u cud get holy wars.
knowing scales is good - the challenge is applying it and not having it to sound like your practicing the scale in your songs.
As what Paul Gilberts in his intructional video - dynamics, dynamics, dynamics...
omarj - any good links to this phrygian mode - gosh nak sebut pun susah, camno nak main!

To me phrygian is yngwie mode..(harmonic minor) hehe.. (masa dulu2 aku panggil scale arab lah..)
the simplest way to know the phrygian sound, simply ask someone to play E major chord, and you goreng on A minor or A Harmonic Minor scale. _________________ Gelanggang guitar : http://guitarden.starahead.com |

I think alot of proper listening will widen ur phrasing vocabulary. Learn to hum or sing the licks u hear and use it while playing when only appropriate. This should solve the 'practice scale in song' problem we all face.
how about more incorporating more advance techniques like whammy bar dives, tapping etc
Or most of you prefer the older skool style? |
